Preloading with food and drink a good suggestion

Where to start, food was very tasty and well cooked, HOWEVER Portion sizes were miniscule. ie teacup size soufflé, fillet steak and crème brulee, Not what I expected, for the price. Drink waiter very inattentive, cleared glasses and did not enquire if another was required. When another waitress... read more

Went to St Germain for a birthday meal. Good layout of the restaurant, the sound acoustics were good as you didn't need to shout or talk loudly to have a conversation. Service was prompt and efficient without being intrusive. I really enjoyed the meal, especially the desserts.

We ate the following; Foie-Gras with strawberry and rhubarb compote Goat cheese soufflé Sautéed scallops with creamy crayfish bisque Duck breast a l'orange and the Trio Gourmand (pudding) Strawberry Bavarois and vanilla sponge Nougat de Montelimar Glace Chocolate Fondant The meal was lovely but was spread over three hours. There was long gap at the start and between the foie-gras... More

It is surprising to find such a French restaurant experience in a mock Tudor hotel in New Zealand, but what a find. Once inside one is transported to France, complete with authentic French dishes and staff. We went with our twin grandchildren and had a delightful evening, with excellent service and food.

Everything about the dining experience was superb. I had the lamb track which was perfectly cooked and my colleague the fish. This was a dining experience that you don't find much anymore in this era of high turnover, noisy, cafe/bistro establishments. For a perfectly paced, quiet, refined meal, this place is hard to beat.

We went to S tGermains for a romantic wedding anniversary dinner and that is exactly what we got, from wonderful French red wine, to fantastic food and service. We were even brought out an extra desert with Happy Anniversary spelt out on the plate. We would recommend the restaurant to anyone who would like to go and enjoy a wonderful... More

Fantastic right from the moment we walked in. The restaurant had fabulous French flair, from the waiters to the wine options to the menu to the surroundings. We had the eight course degustation and asked the waiter to choose a wine that would be suitable as an accompaniment to several courses. The wine choice was fantastic and the food just... More

Our most recent dinner at St Germain shows how well this restaurant continues to be managed and how well the boys have survived the interruption of earthquakes! The new location is wonderful and the service remains excellent. The food is served in well sized portions and the quality of the food is also excellent. We will return as soon as... More
