Visited the Herzog Estate in January and had a great wine tasting, followed by a gorgeous lunch. We had the salmon and it was terrific (and I'm not a big salmon eater). They have a handsome dining room overlooking lavender filled gardens. Beautiful service. Would have written a review earlier, but kept looking for Herzog Winery - which this is... More

Went to the Hans Herzog with family who had come to visit whilst working in New Zealand for the year. Had a great evening with diner at the estate. Food was stunning with a selection of amuse Bouche and great wines with the courses. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was also excellent as you would expect.

A celebration dinner turned out to be less than wonderful. A small menu in the bistro but ok. The entrees were disappointing. Salmon should not have had ice crystals present. When mentioned to the waitress it was " well it is a cold entree". Not that cold I dare to say. Rushed out of the freezer perhaps. The prawn entree... More

In early July we enjoyed a lovely stay at the Vineyard Cottage at Hans Herzog. It is great place located near the winery. The cottage was very comfy, toasty fire, completely furnished, great tea and coffees and welcoming atmosphere. We had a lovely meal with a nice bottle of wine in the Bistro. Be sure to enjoy a taste of... More

We had a very lovely evening at Herzog. We booked in for the ore dinner wine your which we'd really recommend. Tour was great and was really interesting to see behind the scenes, the cellar was a real highlight. Dinner was lovely, everything cooked to perfection. Wine of course was amazing too. Our waiter, who also did our wine tour... More

Have booked at 8 p.m. in advance for Valentines Day as this was our first night in Marlborough. Had a drink in the bar on arrival at 8 p.m. While we lokked at the menu. Desided to go for the 5 course diner with wine menu. Go to our table around 8.20. After 1 1/2 hours e.g around 10 p.m.... More

We went to Hans Herzog while on our honeymoon in New Zealand and absolutely loved it! We recommend having the Pinot Gris (which actually looks like a rose, but isn't) and the Zweigelt (A Austrian red grape). They are both delicious. There is a fancy (and more expensive) restaurant and a bistro which is served from the same kitchen. We... More

Have visited for lunch before in summer and it was fabulous, so grabbed the option to visit again and experience the degustation. The food was excellent, although the service let it down. We opted for matching the wines to the food - all wines presented were very cold and not at ideal temperature. Also wines were merely placed on table... More

We were expecting Herzog to be a highlight. It was a lowlight! We went on a cold winter's night, the fire was out. Apparently the wood was wet and it made too much smoke. The ambience was non-existent, the lights were pretty much full on. Someone, either waiter or kitchen staff, made a mistake and supplied an entree size meal... More

The bistro has a fantastic menu that makes it so difficult to decide, but what ever each of us picked, it was superb. Even better they can recommend/provide wines to match each dish. Lovely place to idle away the afternoon.
