I am from Eastbourne and have always wanted to try Cobar, my sister and I went in the summer and were bitterly disappointed. At first I played the poor service off as perhaps I was to picky, been in hospitality my self, but after spending a good 1-2 hours there, it became very clear that this was not the case.... More

Superb location, excellent views across the bay towards Wellington, good contemporary decor, excellent staff. A really nice place to treat one's mother-in-law. Food spot on. This is one restaurant that should be on everyone's bucket list. Unreservedly recommended.

A busy Saturday night is always a good test of a restaurants ability to perform under pressure. With a large party booked in we wondered if service would slip, but no way. This team made it look effortless with every dish presented lovingly and with care. A great evening and very reasonable priced. We will be back

Not many places score a 5 but this place ticks all the boxes! Best table in the house despite a late booking for a Saturday night. Mixture of clientele...rowdy table plus tables of 4 but busy and nice atmo. Food delicious...best steak ever, just melted in the mouth. Fish of the day also delicious. Prior to that the eel and... From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we were welcomed and given the best service. The meal was fantastic and we didn't feel rushed. Would recommend to anyone.

On a cold wet windy Summer night we were so glad to be greeted by a toasty warm fire in the fireplace, lovely food and pleasant staff. Great view of Days Bay- and I used to live in the house next door to this place many years ago, so it was of special interest to be there.

We went to Cobar for my mother-in-laws 80th birthday celebration. Even though the weather meant that looking out over Days Bay to Wellington was wishful thinking, the service and most importantly the food was superb. The service was attentive but unobtrusive and the menu was imaginative and the food beautifully cooked and presented. Six diners, 3 courses = 18 dishes... More

On a sunny day in the weekend, there's nothing better than cruising around to Days Bay and sitting out on the terrace at Cobar for a long leisurely lunch. It's fun watching the world go by, and the food is very good. They have an extensive wine list which has something for everyone.

The Cobar has always been one of my favourites. A little expensive, but up-market and worth the money. And - importantly for older women, they allow you to share a meal, and provide an extra plate without question. So it isn't so expensive anyway, and such delicious food, in such wonderful surroundings. not only the view, but the well designed... More
