Perception is everything

This place is run by one of Wellingtons legends who started off with a dairy across the road and has built a curry empire It's a pity he has not spent a bit more on this outlet which is getting more and more tired as the years roll on The carpet is a minefield of muck, the walls and ceiling... read more

Not sure why the reviews before mine are so poor as my experience was very good. The food was delicious, plentiful, and served promptly. I'm afraid I'll never award a kiwi Indian 5 stars when they keep insisting whether you want your meal "mild, medium or hot" (you could have a mild vindaloo for heavens sake) and this restaurant was... I object to being served reheated chicken when I pay full price for my meal. (This was about 7pm on a Thursday night). Will never go there again as this is the second time I have been served below standard food at this establishment. Never again. There are many amazing Indian restaurants to go to in the Petone Lower Hutt... More

I am a foodie and have my own foodie blog in Singapore. While I may not be Indian, I know what authentic Indian food is like. The restaurant can only be described as filthy. The carpet was so dirty that my sandals were sticking to it. My husband and I ordered chicken biryani, butter chicken, korma and garlic naan. The... More

I can't remember the last time I was so disappointed in a meal. We adore Indian food, we eat it weekly and seek it out wherever we travel. Our curries here were complete rubbish - it was if they'd used canned tomato sauce and spiced it up with a splash of pepper sauce - no depth, no texture, no flavor,... More

Took my Down Syndrome nephew and his mother to here, they loved the food, new interesting and friendly wait staff. Food was made not hot for them to try.

A great friend and I dined here a couple of weeks ago and we'll be back without a doubt. The first thing that made our experience comfortable and relaxing was the booths. We sat and talked for hours, as the atmosphere was just right. The second thing was our dinners, their stand out dish for us was the chicken tikka... More

Hadn't been for a while as our previous visit around a year ago was very disappointing. However I took the kids for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and speed of service. Definitely worth another go.

Its been quite a while since we ate in Tulsi, Cuba Street. Its damn hard to get a park on a Thursday night in Wellington but the time spent was well worth it. As a group we had a variety of curries but Mailyn and I had the Balti dish. Succulent lamb and chicken cooked the Balti way with lots... More
