Good food, slow servcie

This café offers well priced food - most of which I have experienced tasted good (except the porridge!). Service is very, very slow; slow to have orders taken and slow to get food out of the kitchen. On a cold Wellington winter's day it is not a warm and inviting place to eat (other day's its fine... read more

Yum, I don't eat Pizza but this one was delicious, we ordered more, the chicken pizza was yummo. Hubby and I had a couple of beers and wines. we stayed at the James Cook hotel so didn't need to drive anywhere. Our barman and waiter gave us great service.

Restaurant is in the lobby of the James Cook Hotel, on the busy thoroughfare between reception and the lifts. That said it is still a pleasant location. I had simply eggs for breakfast. 2 fried eggs in white toast (no choice) with the crusts removed (see photo). $12 very steep for what it was. Better to go to a local... More

6 of us popped down for brekkie at 7.00am to find one staff member and one chef. food took ages to come, one of us waited until he'd finished for his tea and another ordered the toast selection and got 2 pieces of white toast for $8. past experience informed us that breakfast would take a while but this was... We were staying at The James Cook and had lunch at Sojourn Café before going back on the ferry. We both had soup and bread rolls which were delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient and it was very good value.

Awesome evening meals - well prepared, a hint of spices, ample variety, quantity and quality. Very well priced. Excellent value for money ($24 - 30)

I enjoyed breakfast here recently. I was pleased with the quality of the poached eggs, great colour and taste. The side of grilled tomato was very generous. Overall, it was a simple meal, well presented and enjoyable.

We usually avoid hotel cafes and restaurants but one evening, we tried Sojourn Cafe in the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor. The service was very good, friendly, professional, attentive but not annoying. The food was excellent. It beat by far many of the other restaurants and cafes in Central Wellington and it was reasonably priced. The entree was a good... More

Nice place to have a quick breakfast at a good price. It was quiet and the food was good. I had poached eggs on toast (perfect) and my husband had bacon and eggs. I would have a meal here again when visiting Wellington.
