Breakfast YES!!!

Oh my goodness I have not had such delicious buttermilk pancakes before! The berries and mascarpone add to its taste! I ordered bacon as an extra. The servings are large and tasty. Kids enjoyed pancakes, eggs benedict & hubby had baked beans & bacon. Reasonably priced, good coffee and so... read more

Wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon - and I can imagine it's just as lovely in bad weather too. Got there late so the menu was limited, but the veggie quesadillas hit the spot and more, accompanied by an apple cider. 3 quick changes of table got me front and centre to the picture view, the place was buzzing... It would be hard to find a cafe with a great location on the beach like this, it has a great view of the sea and human activity there. You can go to plenty of other attractions from Lyall Parade after or before. They have a good spectrum of cafe foods, reasonable prices for Welly, and the staffers are friendly.

waiting for a flight to arrive, husband and I called in for drink and snack, steps up to café disgustlngly dirty, the guy serving us was holding a baby and talked to it more than the customer, drinks (2 beers $19) small bowl of chips $7, tables were messy and also need refurbishing ( you can only have "retro" so... Location alone provides enough of a draw to visit the Maranui café, the incredible views out to sea can provide an amazing backdrop for any meal, but the food is always great too. The place is never not busy, the queues move pretty quick though and there's some excellent brunch options. Cakes and treats on the counter always worth investigating... More

Great food and funky place with views over the beach. The food was really tasty and I can't wait to return and try out more of the menu. The cakes looked yummy.

This place is always busy, and on the lucky occasions I get a seat, the service is really good. The food is healthy and tasty. The coffee is great. The views are spectacular as it's right on the beach. What more could you ask for?

Great ambience, interesting and tasty variety of food, good coffee. Always busy but there's usually a space somewhere! Views over popular surf beach and close to Wellington airport to watch the planes shimmy in on windy days. Worth the trip from Wellington

Went for a luncheon meal with 4 friends on a weekend so cafe was very busy. It had been recommended by other's and the meal was great, service was fairly average. Like someone else has said the stairs are a bit steep, but that can't be avoided. Beautiful setting of course, especially on a lovely Wellington day. It was noisy,... More

I cannot count the number of times I have called at The Maranui. It is a standard by which other cafes are measured. The location is wonderful; right on the beach in Lyall Bay. So no matter what the weather, there's something interesting to look at if you are seated by the window. It doesn't even matter if you are... More
