This is quickly becoming my favourite Wellington eatery. It's got a great ambience, friendly service, and if you manage to score a seat by the window or even outside then you're a winner before food's even arrived. Recommended eat: Poached egg & avocado on 5grain or the stack of berry pancakes Recommended drink: strawberry milkshake or one of their excellent... More

We've been to Maranui a couple of times as we love the place and the location. Situated beachfront (well, actually, on the beach), it has outstanding views of Lyall Bay and the surfers around. The style of the place is really nice, kind of an american surfer bar, wich gives it a deconstructed charm. The menu is somewhat extensive (as... More

Great food and views over the beach. Can be busy on weekends but lots of fun and friendly staff. Milkshakes and smoothies are to die for!

I go to this cafe often as solo, sometimes with my family or just with my husband. The service here has been so far always friendly, which is kind of rare in cafe businesses in Wellington. I am saying this because I am an Asian who notices a lot of silent/covert unfriendliness/discrimination either to me or to other Asians from... More

on a very busy Saturday we went for brunch. Brilliant vibe, hospitality to die for, what a successful recipe for a business and average age 25 I am picking. My risotto with asparagus I am still thinking of with pleasure. What stands out is the treatment of my daughter who has an Ayurvedic diet and the trouble our waiter went... More

I love this cafe! The food and drinks (including coffee) are great. The views are just amazing. The biggest downside is that everyone's knows this so its always jam packed and getting a seat can be impossible! Go early or late for the best chance.

I went here with two friends on Saturday and we were so lucky to catch a sunny day and even luckier to nab an outside table on the deck. Beautiful view of the beach and so sunny. I had the scrambled tofu which came with toast smothered in avocado. It was so yummy, especially with the generous sprinkle of mixed... More

The food is amazing, the best Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon I've had so far in NZ & believe me I've tried loads of places! Really well priced too, the staff got to know us after we came on more than one occasion & it's always lovely to be remembered as a customer. The views are second to none; the... More

We were visiting from out of town and had been told that this was a great place to eat. On a sunny, albeit windy, Saturday late morning the queue was long and wound down the stairway. With oars as handrails we waited and began to wonder if this would be worth it. The staff kept us informed about the wait... More

It was quite a nice and shiny day when we entered into this place. It was completely packed with people and a fantastic view from the window - blue sky and sea water framed by the window. Beautiful!! The only thing that I would say was that this definitely is a super busy place and the waitresses are very well... More
