THIS is what cafe food is supposed to taste like!

AMAZING cafe food and superb coffee. Great harbour views out to the south through the large picture window. Decent sized (upstairs) cafe with a good number of friendly, efficient staff.Went on a Tues for lunch with a group of 10 which they handled admirably. All the mains come out together... read more

Maranui has great views of the moody south coast from the Lyall Bay foreshore, worth seeing in almost any weather. Service is rapid and efficient, staff very friendly. Every dish we have tried here has been delicious, and the coffee excellent. Sometimes there will be a short wait for a table - it is well worth it. Interesting décor with... More

I loved this place. From the building itself, located right on the beach, to the eclectic arrangements of old photos and knic knacs inside - this place oozes charisma. I didn't have the opportunity to try any of the food (which looked absolutely amazing), but the coffee and atmosphere alone made a visit to this place well and truly worthwhile.... More

I love this cafe. Always busy, but worth the wait for a table, so don't let a line waiting at the top of the stairs put you off. Great view out onto Lyall Bay - can watch surfers or kite surfers and even the planes landing and taking off at the airport. Tasty food on the menu for breakfast and... More

I've done my fair share of travelling... and I've had a few milkshakes, thickshakes, smoothies, malts and other concoctions... but the milkshakes and malts at Maranui Surf Lifesaving Cafe are by far the best I have ever had. They are perfect. Forget Johnny Rockets or Max Brenner or wherever you think might be better. This is the place. Full stop.... More

Maranui Surf Club is always popular, often with queues down the stairs. But it is well worth the wait. Regardless of the weather, there is always something to look at outside towards Lyall Bay and the airport. This time I chose the Eggs Benedict (actually no surprise, as I continue my search for the perfect bene). Maranui presents this as... More

Amazing food, had to queue to get in but the view was worth it. Friendly staff also. Bit selection on the menu and in the food cabinet. Worth a visit again but maybe on a quieter day!!!!

We keep coming back to Maranui because we truly enjoy this place. The food is always amazing, last time I had scrambled eggs on gf toast with a side of baked beans and hash browns, this is what i usually order and never disappoints me. The only issue is that you usually need to wait for a while to get... More

Great cafe. Great coffee, and the salads are unbelievably good. It seems to always be busy, but parking is easy and they always seem to be able to squeeze you in. Well worth a visit.

I lived in Wellington for a number of years and this was my favourite cafe. Albeit busy, service was always efficient and friendly. The place is quirky and retro, and having been re-built after a fire, still retains a cool atmosphere. Really good coffee and the best brunches. A must try is either the Big Bay or Vegetarian Big Breakfast.... More
