4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013 NEW via mobile

Had lunch, in the upstairs room, fish of the day was snapper - and 4 of the 5 in the party had it, all dishes received a big tick. Service was efficient, we explained about time constraints, waitress explained the dishes, and suggested wine accompaniments. If you can ask for the upstairs room, but only if mobile and not too... Certainly recommend arriving early for this popular Wellington restaurant as you can't book for dinner you need to be there before 7pm. Food is standard fair, well prepared and reasonably priced. The wine list is extensive as are the beer options. We had steak, shanks and fish and all were cooked to perfection, tasty and well flavoured. Worth a visit.

We each had three courses; the desserts were fabulous but one of the mains and one of the entrees was fairly flavorless, although well-cooked and tender. The size of the entrees meant we could have dessert which could be viewed as either a positive or a negative! The service was great. We could not get the bottle of wine we... More

This timeless favorite looked in sparkling form as we lead with Nautilus Cuvee at the bar. Rex the chef was close as were the bosses . Always a good sign . The small safe but balanced menu offered the flavors we were chasing and they did not let us down. Oysters for me, snails for them. The traffic built and... More

We had a short walk from Lambton Heights and the tiny building surrounded by tall buildings attracted us to the Bistro. It was a great choice and we were not put off by the prices expected in the capital city. Lamb Shank with lentils in New Zealand; so appropriate. The flavours were delightful evidence of a very skilful chef. Service... More

This is our favourite restaurant in Wellington. You can't book so we tend to go early, have a drink at the bar servied by the wonderfully helpful barman and then indulge in the greta food and service. The small bistro type restaurant has a great atmosphere. Good choice of wines and menu - so much so we keep going back!... More

Recommended by TA & locals. Intimate dining room. Additional bar area for cocktails or waiting. Visiting Wellington w/ adult daughter who is vegetarian. She had mushroom ravioli & side of fresh green beans, I ate "market fish" which equates w catch of the day if you are from North America- which was snapper, delicious as well. Another in our party... We have wanted to go here for a while, and so as we found ourselves in Wellington for a night, we went. We knew that they didn't take reservations, and as we had a concert to attend, we we early. We were immediately seated. The room is small and comfortable, we felt relaxed right away. The waitress came by straight... More

Small restaurant, tucked away, but definitely a place to go. There is no booking, so we had to wait 45 minutes for a table, but enjoyed some wine whilst doing so, and it was certainly worth the wait. My calamari was good and the slow cooked short rib of beef was lovely, with a rich BBQ sauce. My wife's risotto... More
