We had an early lunch there last Thursday. I had what was labelled a beef pie ... unfortunately they had forgotten to put much beef in it ... 3 small pieces buried in a luke-warm congealed mess of something that was presumably meant to be a sauce. The "rewarmed" pastry was soggy. Needless to say I didn't eat much of... More

Wellington is justly famous for its coffee and Bordeaux on Thorndon Quay is the most consistently excellent coffee I have found. Always a bright convivial atmosphere and the food is pretty good too.

Not a lot of atmosphere here and communal tables which I hate and usually avoid places with them. I ordered the 'Croque Madame' which was very good and the side salad with it was nice.

We walked into Bordeaux this morning intending to have a nice Brunch......and walked straight out again upon being told that "no they dont have free range eggs or indeed anything free range on their menu" Somehow the chef and waitress seemed to find the enquiry funny, but who is living in the past here??? I havent eaten battery eggs for... More

Used to come here every weekend, but never coming back after the last visit. Some of Wellington's most sour and unadaptable staff on the tills. Just wanted a side plate of ham and cheese with our meals (as we had ordered many times in the past) and this proved far too difficult for the pair of stroppy staff on the... More

OK, so this is based on what we ate today... steak baguette with 'peanut' sauce and fries; lemon tarte; coffee: we were given our cold lemon tarte at the counter on a piping hot plate, found seats and waited around ten minutes for our baguettes to arrive. Fries were OK, steak was chewy and impossible to eat in the baguette,... More

Took my family from out of town. I ordered a Ceaser salad, while everyone else had bread rolls. The rolls all had very little filling in them and were very disappointing. My salad was terrible and had brown/rotting lettuce. I sent my salad back and received a full refund. We also got a couple of cakes and these were all... More

Long black was not too strong as it often is here in NZ, with an almost citrus after taste. Niiice. Their custard square (insert unpronounceable French name here) was nice enough, maybe a little more custard and slightly more vanilla in the icing. Finally the Cronut. Delicious concept. And well executed with vanilla filling. But I'm not sure that it's... More

A delicious but expensive place to have lunch or a quick bite to eat. It's child friendly with toys and adult friendly with magazines and a ranch of tables to suit large and small groups.
