Description: Ti Kouka cafe was started by brothers Jesse Simpson and Shepherd Elliott in November 2010. Jesse runs the front of house and makes the beautiful coffees and Shepherd runs the kitchen and makes the delicious food. We use local, sustainable and organic produce when ever possible. We use Flight's beautiful direct trade and organic coffee and Zorganic's milk and other dairy products. We also offer free range and organic eggs, chicken and juices. We believe that using the best ingredients gives our food and drinks an edge that you can taste. We also believe we have a responsibility to do what we can to make sure we can continue to have the standard of produce we enjoy now. We compost all our scraps, recycle everything we can and will continue to improve as we go. In November of 2013 we opened Leeds St Bakery to supply TK and many others around wellington with Beautiful organic artisan breads.

Usually go here for coffee meetings, this year ended up having the team Christmas lunch here. It was a good choice. Really good service, Food was fine (possibly a little small portion but that is fairly common these days), its not noisy, and prices are okay. I had the fish of the day and it was quite nice. The food... More

Went to Welly for a memory lane and gourmet trip. This was the standout from the more upmarket places we ate at. Wholesome and unfussy food - nitrate free bacon - the waitress knew the provenance of the items we asked about i.e. they care about good food.

My foodie neighbor, a native kiwi, recommended Ti Kouka, and it is utterly delicious, as well as wildly and justly popular. I had lunch there, had booked the table for the wrong day, and was fortunate despite the booming trade to be seated at a corner table by the window (I suspect my lunch date bribed them, wink). The menu... More

I enjoyed brunch today with friends at this place. This place has been in Wellington for a while and it had been a long time since I had been here previously. The brunch menu is pretty good and had enough options to choose from. The burgers sounded great, but in the end I was tempted by the smoked fish and... More

Found by accident, don't be put off by the climb up the stairs, the food and the environment make it well worth while. Two days in a row, sitting by the window looking down and people watching while having a late holiday breakfast, the understanding of gluten free and the quality of the food make this place sing - it... I went here for a Friday lunch. We should have booked but managed to get a table due to a cancellation. The menu is different from the usual café food. I had a very tasty jerk chicken roll with green banana fritter and coleslaw. It was all excellent and the flavours were great. The bread is of a very high... More

...to walk up 2 flights of steps after being tantalized by the menu board at street level...and to be told that there's no room for 1..."you should make a reservation". And this was NOT peak dinner hour, not even dinner time at all but exactly at noon...the beginning of a lunch rush. Such good revues for the food have made... More

I just love Ti Kouka on Willis Street. Ti Kouka or Cordyline australis, is commonly known as the cabbage tree, is a widely branched monocot tree endemic to New Zealand. The thing is there are so many yummy things on the menu to eat and drink, I don't like to get food envy when I order. However you're in no... More

Been here a few times now and it always makes my life difficult by having too many amazing things to choose from on the menu! Food is always amazing and love their use of high quality free range/organic ingredients. Also very considerate of allergen requests. One of my favourite Wellington spots hands down!

I'm struggling to think of a cafe I would prefer to go to in Wellington right now after having lunch here today. Probably the best chips i've ever eaten, nice touch that they came with three sauces (all hand made). I had rump steak with braised beef shin, BBQ sauce, buckwheat, fondant yams, fermented cabbage & Jerusalem artichoke puree (C&P... More
