A little gem

We followed a recommendation to go to Fidels during a short visit to Wellington. Situated at the top end of Cuba Street, Fidels offers a very relaxed and informal atmosphere. My partner and I chose to sit at the back of the cafe (outside'ish). The menu choice was full of great food and a wide range... read more

Great service, lovely coffee and delicious cabinet food. This is a trendy place for young students where the staff continue to look after customers by ensuring plenty of water and clearing plates promptly.

I had breakfast in here one morning before heading off to watch England get thumped by the Kiwi's in the Cricket World Cup. The place was busy, but the service was still good, I ordered some big breakfast and a strawberry milkshake, with a request that my egg be well done on the breakfast. The milkshake came and it was... Lacking free wi-fi is a big negative for me, especially when eating alone and having to wait a good 20 minutes for the food; so with increasing impatience this trendy little restaurant was going down in my estimation. This was not helped by waiters who, despite being friendly, seemed overly rushed (it was not that busy) and failed to even... More

Stopped in briefly on a Sunday morning for a mimosa (wedding anniversary weekend!) on the way to brunch with friends. Staff friendly and efficient. Menu looked great, as did the counter food.

Just a stop for an early morning coffee, and had a great chat with the outside barista. I also observed that he had a steady following of regular clientele as he greeted people in a knowledgeable manner, and often received the reply "just the usual thanks!" This is the mark of a great barista who makes great coffee. Keep him... More

It's always nice to come here as the place is really cool, but the prices are a little bit excessive. It is usually packed but the quality if the food is excellent. Staff is ok.

We sat in their outside patio area (sun screen provided on the table which we found interesting and considerate) It was nice to order fresh carrot/ginger drink and have full menu options as well.

This cafe restaurant at the end of Cuba Street was a great find. It has a deliberately (?) dilapidated decor and feel and memorabilia that give it that Cuban feel. The restaurant has a cosy feel but is actually quite large. There was a constant stream of patrons coming in for quick drink, takeaway or a sit down meal. The staff... More
