Cuban food?

I don't know what food they eat in Cuba as I've never been there, but this place I could recommend. Service was good, but it does get rather noisy (for European standards). I had first the soup of the day which was very good and a fair portion. Then I had a large pizza (chili beef or something). It... read more

Had lunch and breakfast at this little cafe with great ambience near the top of Cuba St. The food is tasty and there is an amazing variety on offer from the cabinets or menu. Would go there again and again if I lived in Wellington.

While I fully appreciate that Fidel's is a Wellington institution, I really don't get the fuss. The coffee is consistently weak and the food just ok. There just isn't enough flavor or quality to justify the price tag or the wait for a table. There are many better options just a short walk away.

Been here a few times recently, the staff are friendly, even when it's mega busy!! The food is tasty, great if you want something quick, and the nacho chicken is the best!! Always a great atmosphere in there and the prices are reasonable

My favourite place to eat, have coffee and hang out in Wellington has got new dishes on the menu - fish and vegetarian - yummy. Most staff provide brilliant, quirky and friendly service - so the odd one who doesn't really stands out! Fidel's is a brilliantly democratic, laid back and creative place - all ages, cultures, styles - not... More

I decided to go with friends yesterday as we were craving the amazing milkshakes that Fidel's are known for. As usual they were incredible, yet we were left disappointed at the service and atmosphere of the restaurant. We were crammed onto a small table as it was a busy Sunday afternoon, and were very underwhelmed by the service we received.... More

My daughters and I had dinner on Sunday at this charming restaurant on Cuba Street. We sat in the outdoor covered patio area. The menu was varied: both girls had the Haloumi and chicken salad- the reviews: generous portions and delicious! I had one of the specials: pulled pork with dirty rice and cole slaw. It was rather bland but... More

Great variety of food and drink. Reasonably priced and can manage a three course dinner for two for under $100. Highly recommend the milkshakes and nacho chicken

My wife and I were wandering along Cuba Street looking for food and went in and out of four or five places before getting to Fidel's. It looked like it would be hard to find a cooler, quirkier place so we searched no further. The menu looked good, but we both ended up,going for items that were on display in... More
