We were at Te Papa. We headed to this cafe for lunch on the recommendation of colleagues who were there for breakfast. What an outstanding venue with a Maori flavour, waka parked up and an exquisite culturally diverse menu in Te Reo and pakeha. I had the paua on toasted rewena. There is a licensed area as well. As you... More

Great location, nice looking menu. Greeted nicely by lady behind bar and seated promptly drinks and food orders taken promptly. Long wait for food but was busy so not too worried about this. Service was so confused staff wandered round with orders until found right table. Seemed very poorly organised wait staff had no idea where to take orders. Food... More

What a scrummy breakfast. Mushrooms/eggs on toast with a side of bacon. Incredibly tasty. Really good coffee, friendly staff and a nice view.

This is a great central location with lovely views. The service was slow, even when trying to pay the bill no one served us at the counter. There appeared to be plenty of staff wondering around. I asked about a couple of menu items but the staff member who served us not confident in her description. The meals finally arrived... More

I chose to have lunch in the sun and the menu looked innovative and inviting. I was greeted quickly at the door and shown a table and then saw no one for a good 1/4 of an hour. When I finally got my order taken it then took 30 minutes for food to arrive. Nice looking cafe. But disappointing sorry

Friends and I went to lunch. Waitress was taking order and another waitress rudely interrupted her, first warning sign. We ordered our meal and bottle of wine. When wine came it had been opened and was only half bottle, second warning. Lunch came the chicken wings were fried and dry and the hungi salad was dry and boring. Asked for... More

Location & great food Right on the waterfront on the side of a lagoon so you can watch the children play, sit on a giant beanbag if you wish and people watch to your hearts content, indoor & out seating even on the grassy bank so totally alfresco. They are trying to promote Maori food and culture onto the waterfront,... More

Had brunch yesterday at this lovely venue, menu prior to 11am was limited though nice looking food in cabinet. Enjoyed the service, two chilean staff were very welcoming and friendly, ordered the house beans with poached eggs and feta with a side of toast. Came out in lovely enamel bowls which brought back memories of childhood. Food was an interesting... More

The best thing about this cafe is its location, which is on the waterfront right adjacent to a small lagoon. It has both indoor and outside settings although there are more outside than in. We were lucky to visit on a spectacular summers day with no wind, which is a rarity in Wellington. On a cold windy day we probably... More
