Delicious vegetarian food.

Wellington's Summer had lasted all of two days and it was back to severe rain. I was at work so wanted to go somewhere close for lunch. The BP station was the closest but I didn't want a service station sandwich or pie. A colleage recommended Karaka, and it was the next closest. Cabinet food... read more

Stopped in for lunch on a sunny day. The staff were very welcoming. Opted to sit outside and enjoy the scenery, at which point I was provided with sunblock. Can't beat that!! The food was delicious. Chose the prawns, with an iced mocha. Did not have to wait long, but staff stopped to talk and check on progress of food... More

We stumbled upon this cafe when looking for a cafe for breakfast - what a great find! We were greeted by super friendly staff, and our coffee which arrived promptly, was delicious. We sat outside in the sun on beanbags, overlooking the quay and enjoyed the view while we ate our delicious eggs benedict, hangi-style. Would definitely return.

I love this place. There needs to be more places like this is Aotearoa that showcase Te Reo and good traditional food with a modern fusion twist. The menu had a beautiful karakia, brilliant range of food and drink. Very pleased with service. I can't wait to go back.

Had wandered along the Waterfront looking at various places for food before doing the Te Papa tour. Stopped in here on the off chance and were immediately taken control of by the staff. Everything (table, drinks, food order) taken care of and the Bruschetta we chose to share was absolutely superb. Would recommend to all.

Right from the Maori greeting I felt we were being invited into a really special café. Staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome .... then came the food. My favourite breakfast was taken to a whole new level - eggs benedict with smoked blue cod and hangi hash ... divine, so nice to see a real kiwi... More

Couldn't come from Melbourne and not have Hāngi!. Took my parents and to be perfectly honest, they had their reservations about the food. Dad had the Paua fritters and Mum, Whitebait fritters. Both my parents are very particular about their kaimoana. Our waiter Tane was awesome!. You're a real asset to the Karaka whānau and their kaupapa. Faultless. We'll definitely... More
