Description: Awarded TWO HATS Good Food Awards 2013, Supreme Winner Resturant of the Year NZ 2009Nearly 20 years after Steve Logan founded the restaurant, Logan Brown is still showing newcomers how to do fine dining. The neo-classical interior remains as plush as ever, drawing diners who wouldn’t normally brave the upper reaches of hipster Cuba St, while competent, confident service encourages adventurous choices from the Bible-length wine list. The kitchen, headed by Shaun Clouston, continues to turn out innovative, but not gimmicky, food. There’s a strong emphasis on local and seasonal flavours, with a nod to the huntin’, shootin’ and fishin’ enjoyed by the restaurant’s founders. The Rangitikei lamb rack, for example, comes with a full-bodied rabbit bolognese; the succulent line-caught snapper with tuatua fritters. Classic Kiwi flavours are embraced and showcased with a sense of humour – don’t miss the hokey pokey ice-cream sandwich. In brief: style, service and food you can bank on Said international guest judge, Ralph-Kyte Powell, "If I had to select an international flagship for New Zealand cuisine. Logan Brown would be hard to go past"

Standing with unique 'topographical prominence' along Cuba Street & Vivian Street reminded us of an office building, a legal practice, or a private banking outlet. Instead it is a poseur restaurant purportedly defining 'fine dining' in a town with an abundance of outlets. It is conservative, smallish with ecclesiastical overtones offering overpriced decent food with a more value for money... More

Logan-Brown were kind enough to give me a different degustation menu because I don't eat seafood. Lovely food, friendly service and a beautiful interior in a gorgeous former bank building.

The food was excellent, no doubt about that, lovely interior and decent service, but after an entree, main and dessert I left still a tad hungry which just left me regretting paying a days wages for the experience.

We are very sorry you did not think you got value for money when dining with us. We certainly aim to farewell all our guests with a feeling of satisfaction for the warmth and generosity of the experience. True some dishes are lighter and more elegant and others are more robust and richer so it is possible you chose 3... More

Everything about this restaurant is great, from the varied menu which appears to change very often, to the efficient and friendly staff. We went here twice, and experienced both the bistro menu and a la carte menu. Both were very good. The bistro menu gets you in and out quicker. Truly one of the best restaurants in NZ.

Thanks for the great praise and acknowledging the menu options. The bistro menu is perfect for diners in a hurry or wanting to eat light and at $49.50 for 3 courses a great price. The a la carte menu features the very best NZ ingredients available and special for that. No matter what menu a guest chooses all get treated... More

Interesting menu with novel touches, but not just to be different or for novelty sake. Servers are well trained and knowledgeable. Excellent, would definitely go back even if it entailed a side journey; truly a destination restaurant in its own right.

Had a nice meal with our son who now lives in Wellington. Entrees were a bit small and fussy but main courses ok. Service was prompt and friendly. Given the high prices I would not hurry back

The food was absolutely beautiful, and they were very accommodating towards a birthday dessert, beautiful building and so much passion out into their food

On a whim, we decided to try a week-night evening meal at Logan Brown's with our children. Their 'Junior Foodie' menu offered great food and exceptional value for our 10 and 12 year old - $15 for 3 courses and Shaun's Mum's fantastic home made lemonade. There was a quiz for the children to complete - and a tour of... More

Unexpected surprise in Cuba Street - a temple to fine dining. On a wet afternoon in Wellington I came across this lovely place unexpectedly and was pleased to indulge in a 2 course lunch special with complimentary wine for each course. The seafood dish was well executed but sadly lacked the essential fragrance appeal when placed on table (a waft... More
