Description: Awarded TWO HATS Good Food Awards 2013, 2014, Supreme Winner Restaurant of the Year NZ 2009. Nearly 20 years after Steve Logan founded the restaurant, Logan Brown is still showing newcomers how to do fine dining. The neo-classical interior remains as plush as ever, drawing diners who wouldn't normally brave the upper reaches of hipster Cuba St, while competent, confident service encourages adventurous choices from the Bible-length wine list. The kitchen, headed by Shaun Clouston, continues to turn out innovative, but not gimmicky, food. There's a strong emphasis on local and seasonal flavours, with a nod to the huntin', shootin' and fishin' enjoyed by the restaurant's founders. The Rangitikei lamb rack, for example, comes with a full-bodied rabbit bolognese; the succulent line-caught snapper with tuatua fritters. Classic Kiwi flavours are embraced and showcased with a sense of humour - don't miss the hokey pokey ice-cream sandwich. In brief: style, service and food you can bank on Said international guest judge, Ralph-Kyte Powell, "If I had to select an international flagship for New Zealand cuisine. Logan Brown would be hard to go past"

Excellent dining experience, the food was magnificent with all three courses being very tasty. The decor and surroundings were very unique and pleasant. The service was of a very high standard and completed the wonderful time we had.

Luv the food and the best thing was, the restaurant was able to prepare it in a halal manner - we ordered the prime beef & roast potatoes (for two) it was very filling even for the 2 of us but we savour every morsel of it coz it was really good! The server was very knowledgeable and told us... More

We dined here on the night of our wedding anniversary. This restaurant has class. The staff are attentive, warm and professional. The food was expertly prepared and served. They surprised us with a dessert to celebrate our anniversary which was a nice touch. I will definitely comeback.

Although the food was really good, the wait (half an hour and more between courses - and there were five of them) was far too long. Sure, you could argue that's because it's done to order, but the food was barely warm by the time it got to us - maybe if the plates had been warmed the food might... More

We are very sorry that you found the time between courses to be too long for you. While the Saturday degustation is a dining experience to savoured over several hours we aim for just a maximum of 20mins between courses. The food is typically plated on hot plates and the waiters trained to use waiters clothes. So obviously we let... More

We are very sorry that you did not like your pre theatre bistro menu. 3 courses plus bread for $55 We hot smoke the Ora King salmon so it does have a natural cured and slightly salty taste to it. The freshness of the caper lemon salsa and horse radish panna cotta is added to complement the taste. We aim... More

It’s pricey, and you have to purchase your own amuse bouche, but this is the first meal that served bread and didn’t have a $9 charge for it. I particularly enjoyed the Ravioli with lime butter and the muttonbird pâté with pickled onions and toast crisps, both were delicious. Overall the food was excellently prepared, from the appetizer of octopus,... More

I booked our Christmas eve dinner in advance to be sure we had a nice place to eat (Burger King just didn't make the cut). The restaurant is in an old bank building and we were seated in the bank manager's office atop a very narrow stairway for our early dinner. We were given the Bistro prix fixe menu for... More

Go there if you're in Wellington. Great food, nicely presented, with a very caring service. Also, great cocktails (real cocktails for a change). And yes, the location is very nice, different from usual restaurants, yet with a quiet atmosphere

Interesting setting in an old bank building. Seems to have been well frequented in earlier days but now not worth a visit. Relatively expensive.

I booked in for my parents anniversary to take them out for dinner here at Logan Brown, which we were very much looking forward BUT however, as we started into the entree's we found a large bit of masking tape which is used in the kitchen, and i'm talking quite large, when mentioned to the MD on, she didn't seem... We can not explain the bizarre circumstances where a piece of masking tape got into a sauce and then actually not been detected on serving. In any case we were shocked and very sorry that it did happen. The restaurant manager apologised profusely as did the head chef who personally attended the table. The bill was heavily discounted on top... More
