Awarded TWO HATS Good Food Awards 2013, 2014, Supreme Winner Restaurant of the Year NZ 2009. Nearly 20 years after Steve Logan founded the restaurant, Logan Brown is still showing newcomers how to do fine dining. The neo-classical interior remains as plush as ever, drawing diners who wouldn't normally brave the upper reaches of hipster Cuba St, while competent, confident service encourages adventurous choices from the Bible-length wine list. The kitchen, headed by Shaun Clouston, continues to turn out innovative, but not gimmicky, food. There's a strong emphasis on local and seasonal flavours, with a nod to the huntin', shootin' and fishin' enjoyed by the restaurant's founders. The Rangitikei lamb rack, for example, comes with a full-bodied rabbit bolognese; the succulent line-caught snapper with tuatua fritters. Classic Kiwi flavours are embraced and showcased with a sense of humour - don't miss the hokey pokey ice-cream sandwich. In brief: style, service and food you can bank on Said international guest judge, Ralph-Kyte Powell, "If I had to select an international flagship for New Zealand cuisine. Logan Brown would be hard to go past"

My husband and I went here for one of our three dinners in Wellington. This is a must! A beautiful old bank building presents a stupendous environment. À small but innovative menu presents an impossible-to-go-wrong dinner selection. Quiet but attentive service completes the experience. We had the chicken pate.... interesting and flavorful. The tuna starter was so good I wanted... More

Thanks for your kind words. It is very gratifying for us when our guests appreciate the trouble we go to, to source unique and beautiful ingredients and cook them well but with out pretention. More

This was one of those rare, sad occasions where horrendous service completely ruins great food. We arrived at Logan Brown for an 8pm weeknight reservation, and waited a few minutes in the neatly appointed bar area while our table was being set and had a couple cocktails, which were good. After we sat down, our server began to bring over... More

We are very sorry that we let ourselves down with the standard of service you received during your recent dining experience. Our typical standards are precise, professional and with genuine spirit of hospitality. We put a great deal of resources into training and systems to deliver this on a consistent basis and so are disappointed if it does not play... More

We'd booked well ahead for the Saturday 5 course degustation menu. We also decided to go with the wine pairings, which worked well. Dishes were well presented and cooking was competent, without any of the courses being a stand out star. What clinched the 5 grading for us was the service, which was friendly and professional, answering our questions with... More

Our dinner at Logan-Brown was nothing special. I expected much more. The Service was slow, the menue small and uninspired, and the Prices high. The White wine was served too warm to drink straight away, and the Food although nicely presented was so-la-la. Lovely building but again once inside the decor did nothing for me. I'll be repeating this experience,... More

The web-booking was with instant confirmation. On the night there was a long wait before even drinks could be ordered or the menu was presented. The menu itself is small and not very innovative or original. The "pork belly" - ominpresent on all New Zealand menus - was also featured here. The execution of the food was good, as should... More

We returned to Logan Brown after a 3 year absence. Happily, things seemed at least as good as we remembered. The service was fast and unpretentious, the menu innovative. In all, a memorable experience.

Good food in this lovely old building, you could call it 'fancy' I guess. I would go there again and again if I could afford it!

The surroundings are elegant, the staff professional and attentive, while still being friendly, and the meal is delicious. The pre-theatre option has a more limited menu but still with great choices and the food is beautifully presented and with excellent flavours. It's not cheap but the whole experience makes it value for money - great for a special occasion.

My husband and son (5-6 years old at the time), took me to Logan Brown for mother's day lunch. That was the first and unfortunately the last time I went there. I was in awe of decor and the transition from what use to be a bank. But what fascinated me especially my son, was the bar.. it was also... More
