I was one of six people having dinner for a special occasion. The waitress was very attentive and experienced. The wine waiter was patronizing. I ordered the duck which was so under cooked and tough that I could not cut it let alone eat it. The portion size of the food was a lot to be desired, so much so... More

We attended as a group. The atmosphere was rather vacant. Our main food waiter was polite and efficient as expected from a restaurant of this level. However the waiter responsible for our drinks order was quite arrogant. He took our order for cocktails without taking notes. He then forget who ordered which beverage, simply placing random drinks in front of... More

The staff were polite and attentive the whole night and the food was delicious. I'd go back again in a heartbeat. It's expensive, but worth it for a special occasion. I was advised on a perfect wine that matched my duck main course. The food, service and atmosphere made me feel like I'd gone to Europe for a couple of... More

We stayed in the Hotel Museum Hotel. (Very poor stay away). THe only bright point was the breakfast. The food was great but the service was second to none. Never had I been so looked after in the morning. Perfect was to start the morning after the disgrace that was the hotel.

We were extremely lucky to get 2 chances in quick succession visiting this restaurant. The reason I say extremely lucky was that on our first visit we came away thinking we were not "good enough" to be seen in their place.Frankly I felt the staff were arrogant bleeps. Im delighted to say I couldn't have been more wrong. What comes... More

Attended the New Year's Eve dinner,$250.00 ahead.first few courses were nice.too much bread was offered and not up to their usual standards.staff were ok but not up to Timmothys standard who is usually on duty.the duck was chewy and the desert way to big and rich. Not sure if Laurent was working.what a debacle when we paid,we were charged for... More

Restaurants at this level should be judged against high standards. The Hippopotamus advertises itself thus, "experience exquisite French influenced cuisine in a glamorous environment that boasts breathtaking views. You will be left with the overwhelming desire to return for a repeat of this magnificent dining experience". So one expects the best and while it comes close, it doesn't reach the... More

Service was a bit slow to begin with and a noisy group of professional men were quite annoying as we were looking forward to a quiet drink. We had pre dinner bottle of champagne and cocktails while waiting for a table, but were told after half an hour of waiting that the restaurant was fully booked. Nice views of the... More

At last a restaurant that equals the quality of service and food you would expect from a nice restaurant back home (France). I truly enjoyed the experience, all your senses have a feast. Hearing the language, seeing the beautiful surroundings, tasting the food and wine recommended by an expert. I highly recommend this restaurant and the hotel is a romantic... More
