Unpretentious restaurant in the heart of the Mount. While it may not have 5 star service or ambiance, the head chef delivers an outstanding menu that is worthy of both 5 stars and its well deserved beef and lamb awards. This bistro is well on the way to being a must visit when I'm in the Tauranga region.

I really have to say, the food was outstanding, a brilliant blend of flavors in all the dishes that we ordered. The Rump of Lamb was out of this world. Well done to the persons in the back doing all the work. Shame the front face of this restaurant was shocking, I have never experienced service like this before. Unbelievable!... More

Ever since the first time I came here, it has become the place of choice for special celebrations. The food is just amazing. I personally fell in love over the Lamb, and my next visit really cemented the relationship with the most amzing pork. If I had a money tree I would eat there all the time, however here you... More

Great restaurant for a romantic dinner or special occaision. The food is delicious although a little more on the expensive side. My husband and I both had lamb which was cooked perfectly. Staff were ok... I think it depends who serves you.

Totally overated, expensive ( wine prices are over the top) and decor leaves a fair bit to be desired. Agree with other reviewer about staff having a great old time with much more generous portions. Time to get back to previous times and not sit on their award which is now getting pretty dusty

What amazed us was the owners who work there, later on in the evening came and ate in the restaurant amongst paying guests with their plates" loaded up" while all other dinners are served reasonably small meals. They didn't even sit in a corner discreetly or somewhere quiet but plonked themselves virtually in the middle of the restaurant. The food is... More

A top restaurant. Comprehensive menu & wine list. Service with a theatrical flourish(our waiter entertained us with his quirky manner & absolute friendliness). Food served with a real flair. The Sword and Sauce-ry mentioned by previous reviewers is especially worth having, not only because it tastes great but it is entertaining. Duck medley also delicious. Only one disappointment with the... More

Probably the best meal we've had in New Zealand (Euro &Soul included). Steve is a first class chef and previous Wild Food winner and doesn't disappoint. It's a nice intimate feel located close to the Mount main beach, the menu is a delight and I suggest at least one of the party try the Sword and Sauce-ry signature dish, I... More

Although the decor of this restaurant leaves a lot to be desired, the quality of the food well and truly makes up for it! The food was AMAZING! We had three courses and couldn't fault any of it. If you come in on a cruise ship, it's definitely worth giving up a meal on the ship for! Mount Bistro is... More

I have dined at Mount Bistro several times. The first few times I was absolutely blown away with the service and the food, although you pay a bit more you certainly get what you pay for. The last couple of times I have been however have been a different story. On one occasion we had to wait over an hour... More
