Cheap and cheerful. Fish served on paper with chips. Sit outside on picnic tables by the ocean and fishing boats.

Very popular place in Tauranga. Had to wait for my fish n chips for 20 minutes but just because there were so many people. Place is very simple but food is great. Size of a meal is big and half a scoop of chips is more than enough for one person. You can enjoy your meal just near the water.
Seriously, the very best fish and chips IN THE WORLD! But be aware that everyone knows that - the last time we went we waited 50 minutes for our food, but no one cares, and everyone is friendly and chats while they're waiting. People from all walks of life dine here - even Gareth Morgan was there buying his dinner!
Yumz ... plentiful fish and chips in a large paper wrapper for two people, mind you, but it could have fed five. Don't know what kind of fish it was, but it was scrumptious. Just a great little place right on the bay with all the locals and some tourists mixed in for good measure. The price was great and...

Can't beat Bobby's for freshness and variety. The only place in town where I can get whole snapper or kingfish fillets regularly. They also have heaps of other fish types if you are keen to experiment and the staff are helpful with advice on their uses. They're open late and I visit them regulalrly.

The place has a humble set-up but with a nice view of the harbour. The cue was very long but I waited since it intrigued me to find so many people was in line for service. I could say that all the waiting was definitely worth it since it was just one of the best fish and chips I have...

On a recent visit to NZ we went in search of fresh fish and found it at Bobby's. As others have said it is basic but a greaat outlook over the water and the best selection of fresh fish (better than the sydney fish markets for freshness). They only cook it one way - battered - but it is excellent....
