Had dinner here on a Saturday night as part of a large group celebration. Was impressed with their turnaround time considering everyone had entrees, mains and some deserts. You weren't sitting there wondering where your food was. Host very helpful and great memory for orders. Food delicious and very generous portions. Hard to choose what to have as there was... More

Gold Mela now on Grange Road in Otumoetai a little out of the way but well worth the effort. Parking is easy, the meal for five of us was awesome, great range on the menu, we had three courses and nice wine which was delightful. The presentation of the dishes was exceptional and enhanced the experience. The staff were really... More

I have dined at Gold Mela on four different occasions and every time we have had great food, great wine and great service. Every time I have chosen a different dish, (other than the most delicious duck pate which we have every time), and we have loved every dish. Love it that we have this lovely little restaurant just up... More

On Saturday night we had the great fortune of dining at Gold Mela. I would recommend the Tuna Nicoise - wow amazing flavours, and the chocolate fondant was perfect - gooey in the middle! Thanks Freddy and team for the fantastic service and food

We were fans of this restaurant under its previous ownership. Then, it was a rustic French Provincial bistro which produced hearty, well-cooked meals. The new Gold Mela is a different creature altogether. For a start, it has moved to new suburban premises, taking over the former Grange Road cafe. Second, the menu is more sophisticated and accordingly, more expensive. We... More

Four of us dined here last night, everything from the service to the food was great. The men had steak & they both said it was excellent, cooked exactly to their requests. Us ladies enjoyed the pasta again this was very good. All the meals were a decent size & reasonable priced. We also liked we could bring along our... More

We made a late booking for four and were juggled in to fit - we are glad they did! Lovely atmosphere, busy but well looked after with interesting and well presented food. BYO which suited the wine buff in the group who loves to take his wine - very few restaurants in Tauranga encourage this. All four of us agreed... More

A nice addition to the neighbourhood, interesting décor with lots of French memorabilia. The service was prompt and very friendly, unfortunately the 2 different breakfasts we ordered were just lukewarm and were served on stone cold plates which didn't help, they would have been really great dishes if both were hot. Hopefully this little oversight will be corrected as we... More

What a wonderful chef, feel and menu! From decor to plate this little gem has a lot of punch. We were treated like VIPs even tho we byo wine. My fiancées birthday didn't faze the kitchen one bit as the chef whipped up a cake and served it at the end of a stunning meal all prepared by hand. Nothing... More
