Good local eatery

We didn't have a reservation but scored the best seat in the house, thanks to a late cancellation. The service was just right: helpful and prompt, but not over-attentive. We had just a pizza, one of the super gourmet ones, and were not disappointed. Wine by the glass was fairly priced, though... read more

2nd time we have been to the bay... 1st time was pretty average but decided to try again. Starters were good size portions and very tasty! "very"Gourmet pizza was not so gourmet. We ordered the loaded hog which is meant to come with strips of belly pork, smokey bacon, cream cheese, onions, mushrooms and some apple sauce. The pizza was... More

We were recommend the brasserie by locals, and how right they were, we ate in the restaurant side. The food was of excellent quality, the starters were rather large, and easily could have been shared. We had the venison and the lamb as mains, both were cooked as ordered and to perfection, the walnut, beetroot and potato stack, a real... More

Atmosphere is friendly. Service is good, with a smile and attentive with out being intrusive. Value for money with both meals and beverages. Serving some very nice wines and good variety of beer and ciders. Summer has the outdoor indoor flow and winter has the fire to keep warmth in. If in Taupo this place is worth a visit.

Probably our fault as we didn't realise we had to book and in fairness had only arrived that evening. We walked here from our b and b to find it was full and they could not accommodate us. In fairness the server did suggest she would give us a lift back if she had a chance as it was raining.... More

I was shocked and disappointed to read your review after we went above and beyond to improve your predicament. The restaurant was fully booked - we realised that you had walked down in the rain and suggested taking away a Gourmet Pizza as we had no tables to accommodate you. The owner of the restaurant even offered to leave her... More

My wife and traveling companions tried The Bay Bar & Brasserie and found a local hangout. The service is very slow unless you know the waiter and it was hard to get a refill on wine and water. The food servings are generous and tasty but do not have the sizzle to warrant a very good or better rating. If... More

Delicious food in an informal setting. All the dishes we had were great, and the desserts yummy. Definitely would go back if we didn't live 10,000 miles away!

Driving passed this bar and brasserie we decided to call in for a drink. Spotted the interesting pizza menus, but decided to go with an assortment of entrees from their main ensue. We chose three for the two of us to share, the chicken pate, the garlic prawns and finally the squid. Each dish arrived beautifully presented with an interesting/refreshing... More
