Bar Food and Great Meal for the hungry Cyclist

After a day sight seeing we decided on a Mac beer and a meal in walking distance of Acacia Bay, so the Bay Bar and Brasserie was the.place. The meals were great and service friendly. Would return to try other dishes on the menu or have the Seafood Bouillabaisse again. The Bouillabaisse was very... read more

This restaurant was a short walk from our B&B in Acacia Bay The food servings are generous and tasty but do not warrant a better rating. The service was just okay; it was rather crowded that night

Great casual dining. Relaxed atmosphere. Bar can get quite busy, but all good, friendly locals. The staff are fantastic. We went twice in 4 days, he second time with our grand-children. Both time were made welcome and enjoyed the food. Good selection of wines by the glass, Good range of beers too. Highly recommended.

Recommended to us. Reserved a table, arrived on time for pre-dinner drink. Bar atmosphere was good , nice open fire warmed the bar area. Staff welcoming , seated promptly. Ordered a main each. After 50mins waitress arrived to apologise for the delay and offered two gasses of wine 'on the house'. Meals arrived after 70mins, we were starving and close... More

Friendly, fun staff at quiz night. Very efficient and knowledgeable about food ( we suspect they google their quiz answers when out the back !!!!!!!!! (all good fun).On sight owner makes everyone welcome and values their business.Complimentary items are offered to large groups. It is great having a restaurant /bar just down the road in a small community.

2nd time we have been to the bay... 1st time was pretty average but decided to try again. Starters were good size portions and very tasty! "very"Gourmet pizza was not so gourmet. We ordered the loaded hog which is meant to come with strips of belly pork, smokey bacon, cream cheese, onions, mushrooms and some apple sauce. The pizza was... More

We didn't have a reservation but scored the best seat in the house, thanks to a late cancellation. The service was just right: helpful and prompt, but not over-attentive. We had just a pizza, one of the super gourmet ones, and were not disappointed. Wine by the glass was fairly priced, though the mains did seem rather pricey to us.... More

We were recommend the brasserie by locals, and how right they were, we ate in the restaurant side. The food was of excellent quality, the starters were rather large, and easily could have been shared. We had the venison and the lamb as mains, both were cooked as ordered and to perfection, the walnut, beetroot and potato stack, a real... More

Atmosphere is friendly. Service is good, with a smile and attentive with out being intrusive. Value for money with both meals and beverages. Serving some very nice wines and good variety of beer and ciders. Summer has the outdoor indoor flow and winter has the fire to keep warmth in. If in Taupo this place is worth a visit.

Probably our fault as we didn't realise we had to book and in fairness had only arrived that evening. We walked here from our b and b to find it was full and they could not accommodate us. In fairness the server did suggest she would give us a lift back if she had a chance as it was raining.... More

I was shocked and disappointed to read your review after we went above and beyond to improve your predicament. The restaurant was fully booked - we realised that you had walked down in the rain and suggested taking away a Gourmet Pizza as we had no tables to accommodate you. The owner of the restaurant even offered to leave her... More
