Description: Voted Lonely Planet's No 1 cafe pick for the Central North Island and one...
Voted Lonely Planet's No 1 cafe pick for the Central North Island and one of the top 10 places to visit in New Zealand. L'Arte Cafe and Gallery is not to be missed when visiting Taupo. Allow yourself time to experience something very unique and special! A trip to L'Arte is a visual and edible feast and unlike anything you have experienced before. The cafe and gallery are both set in a magical garden, complete with an outside mosaic living room. The food and art at L'Arte's unique destination are both exquisite. Resident ceramic artist Judi Brennan's work is evident everywhere and is sold exclusively from the gallery at L'Arte. L'Arte Cafe serves Allpress coffee, has a wonderful selection of New Zealand wines and beers and the excellent service exceeds all expectations. With New Zealand's finest produce, L'Arte's kitchen team produce everything fresh on-site, from homemade bread to homemade pesto and onion jam. We have also created a small deli so you can take some of L'Arte home with you. L'Arte Cafe, Gallery and Garden is a special holiday experience that will stay with you .........

Excellent coffee in a funky cafe

Seriously the coffee is amazing! It's a funky cafe with lots of cool art stuff by local artists available on display and for sale. It's a great place for brunch or just a coffee.

What do I say!! Flies everywhere but we still decided to have a coffee and cake. Passionfruit slice x 2 eaten by 4. Yoghurt or cream extra 50c. Coffee ok but nothing to rave about. Used entertainment voucher and told could only use for 3 coffees, first time we have ever been told that. Will never come again.

Love it, nourish fresh food, fresh tasty tea and coffee. Amazing funky art projects, mosaics, ceramics hidden amongst the attractive gardens.

Taupo struggles a bit when it comes to evening restaurants but thrives on the brunchy lunchy scene. And this place is a great example of why this is the case. Yummy combinations of bacon , onion and tomato combined with a pretty mosaic- filled setting make this a lunch time treat. After eating, wander to view the pretty pottery.

Very interesting place to visit if you are into the Arts - food is excellent but perhaps a bit on the expensive side

Lovely cafe , good selection of meals/drinks . an incredible selection of mosaic art in the grounds and a lovely shop on the premises selling a wide variety of "arty" objects

Loved this cafe - I have been here several times on visit to Taupo and have recommended to many friends and business colleagues. The garden setting is very pretty and the different types of art work are really interesting. The food of course is delicious. My only complaint now is that too many people have discovered it !

L'Afte Cafe is a favourite of ours to visit and enjoy great food. We try to go atleast once a month as it's just a couple minutes drive out of the Taupo CBD, the staff are always friendly, the food always great and the atmosphere inspiring and creative. Set in a wonderful valley on Mapara Road attached to the art... More

Found this Gallery/cafe when driving around on a Wednesday lunchtime. I spotted the sign on a corner of the road, after seeing a large ceramic chair that initially caught my attention. The cafe is about 10 mins drive from Taupo and was a busy cafe with a studio/gallery attached. Order at the desk, find a table and the food is... More

We've had a couple of nice lunches there, and recently asked if they could cater for a wedding. All I can say is that the service and food was outstanding, anyone needing someone to cater in Taupo I would give them a call. We looked at the other caterers and L'Arte was by far the easiest to deal with, and... More
