My family and I were looking for great food. We found it. The quality was super and the portions were very large. After working up an appetite, the Pig and Whistle was perfect.

We were in Rotorua for the day - big maistake, one day is not enough. We needed to eat. We selected the Pig and Whistle because the building looked good from the outside. We chose well. Good ambience, good pub food, certainly not fine dining, no white table cloths etc but the friendly and casual staff suited the place. Plus,... More

Good big servings of foods. Yummy meals. However, the service is very casual. We need to go to the counter to order plus we need to pay first before dining.

The place was practically empty when I arrived (as it was around 11am) with plenty of seats and tables available but the wait staff felt compelled to tell my girlfriend to move to another table as "a bigger group could arrive" while I was away ordering a beer. His approach was rude and unjust and left her feeling unwanted and... More

We had really great service by a really friendly girl named 'Tua'. She was lovely to my Grandma! The food was amazing. Really recommend. I had the Moroccan Chicken but the Bourbon Pork was also amazing!

Not only is the history of the Pig and Whistle Pub building interesting, the establishment offers HUGE, very tasty meals in a very relaxed atmosphere. The staff also couldn't be more friendly and helpful to a couple of wandering Aussie tourists. Food and drinks arrived quickly too.

We had one seared marinated lamb salad and one lamb sandwich. Both tasted great and hit the spot. Selection of beers is good, focus on local choices. Give it a try.

While nothing was wrong with this English style pub in the middle of Rotorua, it just didn't compare with the high end restaurants we frequented elsewhere throughout NZ. Typical pub grub with an interesting selection of beers and sports on the tele.

We are definitely not a high end restaurant and we don't try to be. :) We do like to think we have very good Pub Meals with an interesting selection of beers and sports on the tele. In this respect we like to think we are above average. More
