Where to look first, outwards, upwards or at the live chef displays... Set high on the side of Mount Ngongotaha, Stratosfare is the newest hot spot on Rotorua's burgeoning foodie scene. Luxurious Italian marble, granite, schist stonework and timber set the scene for a memorable experience where David Trubridge light frames your dinner setting for an evening that is sure to delight all your senses. Skilled chefs at their stations craft your cuisine, while cocktail connoisseurs mix and shake at the bar - and the sights don't stop - there's also an incredible 180 degree panorama of Lake Rotorua and the city to soak in amongst the atmosphere. Did we mention the menu? A range of cuisine is presented to tantalize your taste buds, from the tidal mussel tank, ensuring the freshest mussels you can find, to the flame rotisserie, aged prime cuts, Art of the Grill, seasonal salads and the freshly cooked-to-order crepes, we are sure you will leave wanting to come back again and again. Featuring a stunning array of freshly prepared buffet and cooked-to-order dishes highlighting locally sourced seafood, meat and produce, Stratosfare will take you on a gastronomic journey. Our commitment to quality begins long before our produce arrives at our pinnacle site. We work in partnership with local NZ farmers and growers who share our commitment to food excellence, from the pasture to the plate. Our award-winning Wagyu Angus cross fillet steak is just one example. Our prime beef comes from 16,000 hectares of coastal farms near Gisborne. The people of Mangatu Farms have been working their ancestral lands for more than 200 years. They can tell us exactly where the beef has come from, how it was reared and what it was fed. It's the little details like these that set our dining experience apart. We think you will be able to taste the difference too. Last dinner booking 8.30Pm.

When requested, the manager (Nitin) found us a seat at a window table, and was only too happy to do so. The staff were very friendly, efficient, attentive and professional. The food was excellent. Although the buffet was not over extensive there was plenty of choice and it was of high quality - not your average type of buffet. The... More

The staff and management were very friendly and they arranged for us to sit at a window table. The view is spectacular. It's worth going just for the view. The buffet food was very good. We had an enjoyable evening. We would totally recommend this restaurant for a nice night out.

Not sure what the previous reviewer from England was complaining about (maybe sour grapes that they we knocked out of the cricket) as there is no extra charge for steaks, you could have ten pieces of the steaks on offer, you only pay extra if you want to upgrade to a better cut, (we upgraded with a crayfish, only $15... firstly the view is lovely over the lake and the restaurant is modern. The layout of the buffet is along one side. We went for the evening buffet which was very average and nothing special. There is not a good salad selection, no pasta salad or potato salad to name a couple. If you want steak then it's an additional... More

We treated ourselves to dinner here for our 20th Wedding Anniversary! Strangely, we weren't given a window seat when we arrived (still had a great view though) despite booking two days in advance, and we were asked if we wanted to move to a window seat when one became vacant, which we did whilst we had dessert. The food was... More

We chose to have our 25th anniversary dinner at Stratosfare and were not disappointed. My husband chose the seafood chowder and said it as the nicest he had ever tasted. The variety of food ( all excellent quality) and the views are outstanding. The gondola trip up and down the mountain just adds to make this special.
