Good enough for a foodie :)

I brought my girlfriend here after reading the reviews on trip advisor and we definitely weren't disappointed. She's a real foodie and loves Mexican so sabraso was her favourite meal on our trip. We will definitely be coming back :)

We had to pre book for the Friday as the Thursday was full when we walked in. I'm so glad we did. The food is by far the best South Amerixan food we've had in a long time!! If we were there another night we would have gone again! I had a Chimichange & hubby had a tostada. Delicious! Washed... More

Been travelling around NZ for two months now, this by far, is the best South American cuisine I've had. Service was outstanding and the Tostadas are divine! Highly suggest the Tres Amigos nachos to start, the queso is perfect! I'd tell anyone that this is a must if passing through Rotorua.

Our favourite "south of the border" restaurant in NZ. As ex-pat Americans, a good Mexican/Latin American restaurant is a prize.

I ordered the Taco dish with prawns and it was the best prawns I have tasted in a long time. Tasty Sangria. It was a great dining experience

I was originally going to award this restaurant a 2, but decided on balance that a 3 would better sum up our experience. The positives: Friendly service, a little distracted despite restaurant not being full, but generally good. Drinks served promptly although I've never had Sangria without oranges before and only having Corona on the beers menu seemed a little... More

We're so sorry that you couldn't feel the heart and soul of Sabroso. Albeit humble, our concept is inspired by time spent in small barrios of Latin America, talking and eating with the people. The two mains that you selected are very traditional - moqueca from Brasil and chimichurri from Argentina. The dining room decor was gathered from talented artists... More

This is a small Latin American restaurant in the city. It’s not flash inside but the food is brilliant. It is also allergen-friendly. We had the Tres Amigos (corn chips and 3 dips) for entrée to share, I had the delicious Cerdo Verde (slow roasted pork) for dinner and had to make space for the light and tasty Sopaipillas (crispy... Thank you for your recommendation and patronage. Our menu is a ever-changing homage to traditional family recipes from Argentina up to Mexico. Not fussy or pretentious - just the good honest food of the people. We are delighted that you appreciated it. More

The restaurant is small and intimate, the staff are very friendly and natural, Food was excellent and had a genuinely Latin-American taste. The wine was very good too. I had Albondigon de Cardero as main and Sopaipillas for dessert. This is an excellent place to come and dine as solo, family or couple.

Who would have thought that one of the best Tex-Mex meals that I have ever consumed would be in New Zealand? Not this guy. Especially since I live in Dallas, the Tex-Mex capital. That being said, their beef chimichanga was fantastic. The breading was thin and crisp, the black beans cooked to perfection, and the meat cheese mix was spot-on.... More

Thank you for the high praise - we're so glad that you enjoyed our chimi. It's a menu item that our regulars insist on, so it won't be making it's way off the menu any time soon. Safe travels! More

Thank you for your kind comments. We are privileged to meet people from throughout the world who travel to Rotorua and choose to dine at Sabroso, but we will never forget the loyal patronage of Rotorua residents as we struggled through our early years. It is particularly rewarding to expand our local customer base. We hope to continue to provide... More
