My husband and I love Sabroso. We have been coming here for a few years now and still cannot fault it, its one of the reasons we especially travel to Rotorua. We love the hot sauces (we have purchased and used over and over again). It gets very busy and is so small, so you need to book. We were... More

Do yourselves a favour and if you like Mex/South American food do not bypass Sabroso. All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals(almost unheard of in our family) and the margeritas are very very good.I booked the day before because i had read on here that the place could get quite booked out.So glad I did,and we were not dissapointed. I went with my family to Sabroso this evening after trying to get a table since Sunday. It was well worth the wait! We started with tapas: fish, squid and cheese filled pastries. All were delicious! For mains we had the chicken chimmichuri, the chimichanga, the chicken tostadas, and my younger brother had a beef burrito from the kids menu.... More

A lovely little place in downtown Rotorua. Food and service were excellent. It more than satisfied the international mix in our party - American on tour; American living in New Zealand; South Africans and Kiwi. Food fresh; tasty; nicely presented. Good Mexican/South American food is difficult to come by in New Zealand and can be really expensive - so we... More

We would highly recommend Sabroso. As well as a starter platter with fantastic flavors, we really enjoyed the chicken and lime soup and the salsa on the dairy free nachos (my son has food allergies) to begin. All the mains were tasty and a good size. The only difficulty was choosing from all the options. Amazing flavours, sauces, quality food.... More

We booked this after reading reviews on trip advisor, and lucky we did as they were turning away quite a few people during the course of our dinner. Prompt and efficient service, with helpful recommendations and we enjoyed our meals - Argentinian steak and chicken chimi churri very much. We shared the soapapillas for dessert, lovely crispy triangles with caramel... More

This tiny little Latin/South American style restaurant is worth the wait!! You must book!! Because we didn't book the first night we were in town, we had to wait for a table, but it was absolutely worth it. So good, we went back again for our second night, and we are normally very adventurous eaters and keen to try new... More

Our third trip to this restaurant and it is still fantastic. The table was already set up for us and our daughter with paper and felts for her to use which was a nice touch. The food was great as always, love the opportunity to try South American wines and the chocolate pot for dessert is always popular.

Being new residents to Rotorua we decided to check out Sabroso expecting good things after reading the reviews on here. We read the chicken soup was pretty special and we weren't dissapointed with both of us enjoying the flavours, I had the Argentine steak while she had the special and they were so to our taste that we weren't interested... We really enjoyed our meal here. Mexican type food can be really bad in New Zealand - covered in gloopy sour cream and every dish with the same taste. The food here was really tasty and full of clean fresh flavours. The entree were really good - the mains less so - you may wish to eat only entress

Thank you for visiting Sabroso during your time in Rotorua. We are pleased that you enjoyed your tapas, though regret that your main choices did not exceed your expectations. We make menu changes at least twice a year and are constantly featuring new dishes from throughout Latin America. We hope you'll give us another try next time you're in town. More
