Great and interesting Latin American food - not just the typical Mexican fare. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We come here whenever we are in Rotorua (and would certainly come more often if you opened up in Auckland...)! Make sure you book a table.

What a total surprise tucked away from the main drag in Rotorua is a tiny restaurant serving a small but perfectly formed menu inspired by food from central and southern America. Great flavours and chilli sauces in three grades. The hot one is HOT but full of habanaro flavour.

This is a great authentic Latin American restaurant. You do need to book but it is so worth it! All of us really very pleased with our food. We had the chipotle calamari - which was superb as well as the Tres Amigos (corn chips with amazing dips). All the mains were fantastic but the pimiento relleno (stuffed roasted red... More

If you want flavors to blow your mind and fresh produce them Saroso is the place to go. Have been many times and every time is just as amazing as the last. I would recommend everything on the menu.

Most amazing Mexican I have had but gets busy so make sure you book! Chilli con carne was good and I got pulled pork soft shell tacos which were so yummy!

Gracias Danielle K for your comments. You're definitely right about booking - we're so small that it pays to guarantee a seat. We hope to see you again if your travels bring you back to Rotorua. More

My husband and I love Sabroso. We have been coming here for a few years now and still cannot fault it, its one of the reasons we especially travel to Rotorua. We love the hot sauces (we have purchased and used over and over again). It gets very busy and is so small, so you need to book. We were... More

Do yourselves a favour and if you like Mex/South American food do not bypass Sabroso. All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals(almost unheard of in our family) and the margeritas are very very good.I booked the day before because i had read on here that the place could get quite booked out.So glad I did,and we were not dissapointed. Hola farnorthg - so pleased that you enjoyed your dining experience at Sabroso. The chili chocolate dessert is definitely a signature item that has survived seven years of menu changes. See you again soon! More

I went with my family to Sabroso this evening after trying to get a table since Sunday. It was well worth the wait! We started with tapas: fish, squid and cheese filled pastries. All were delicious! For mains we had the chicken chimmichuri, the chimichanga, the chicken tostadas, and my younger brother had a beef burrito from the kids menu.... More

A lovely little place in downtown Rotorua. Food and service were excellent. It more than satisfied the international mix in our party - American on tour; American living in New Zealand; South Africans and Kiwi. Food fresh; tasty; nicely presented. Good Mexican/South American food is difficult to come by in New Zealand and can be really expensive - so we... More

We would highly recommend Sabroso. As well as a starter platter with fantastic flavors, we really enjoyed the chicken and lime soup and the salsa on the dairy free nachos (my son has food allergies) to begin. All the mains were tasty and a good size. The only difficulty was choosing from all the options. Amazing flavours, sauces, quality food.... More
