A Good Average

Passing through Rotorua and decided to visit "Eat Street" again. For us it was a late lunch and we both had fish 'n chips. The fish was nice with a mildly spiced light batter and their own tatare sauce on the side. The service was friendly but not astounding. It was expensive fish 'n chips but hey... read more

We had been driving down from Whitianga so were pretty tired when we arrived in Rotorua. We wanted a quick meal and since most of the other restaurants were pretty full, we decided on Solace. Service was quick and we didn't have to wait very long either. Since we weren't very hungry, we decided to share a starter and main.... More

Our menus were handed out and a few minutes later taken off us, as they did not have enough for all the customers and other tables needed them more than ours. So a group of six of us had to share one menu. Overall organisation was extremely poor; no cutlery on tables which we had to ask for when our... More

We had lunch at Solace and were pleasantly surprised at the great food and awesome service by staff. It was a very busy day but the service was outstanding. Our food was plentiful and so delicious. We had hot chocolate drinks which were great. Very clean and tidy restaurant and the facilities were good.

We should have seen the warning signs when we entered the restaurant which was very quiet compared to the other restaurants on Eat Street doing a great trade. But we thought we would try something new instead of the usual places we go when in Rotorua. Note to self: stay with tried and trued. First problem was when I was... More

Had a nice meal here recently on a Saturday night. We both had the seafood chowder, followed by the scallops for main. I have to say it was not a traditional thick chowder, but quite tasty with a nice fresh bread roll. And the scallops were really nice, so fresh and flavorsome, along with the side of fries and aioli,... More

Was quite a busy at other restaurants but Solace seamed to be quieter and the stand up menu outside looked great. We had checked out many Of the others but the Fishermans basket drew us in. The waitstaff were very average. i ordered the chicken Brest and my husband got the Fishermans basket. Our drink order was taken only once... More

Dinner menu - all of us chose the same special lamb shanks and they were delicious. Two of us had dessert - would recommend the choc brownie and the panna cotta. Service slow - had to wait for a while to get our meals which would have been fine if going for dinner as a romantic dinner but a bit... More

Called in here today with two big eaters for lunch. Paleo for me so it was the Thai salad which to be fair was a bit on the small side for the price and for what it was but the other two had the Mushroom melt. A good sized steak with chips and a huge amount of mushrooms was all... More
