On the lake side of the community Soundshell building. We were there on Sunday, when the markets were on, so not sure how often it's open other than Sundays. It's like a bistro where you take a tray and select the slices, sandwiches etc from the slide-glass cabinets - like a Country Women's kitchen. Then you order your drinks - my BOWL of latte was fantastic. We sat at tables just inside the glass looking out, across Lake Rotorua but the tables outside were popular too. Very reasonable, great food...all the locals seemed to be there!

A very average Cafe

For a popular Tourist destination I expected better. The best thing about this cafe is the view of Lake Rotorua. The Food and Service was just average. The use of fold up chairs and tables is neither comfortable nor practical for guests. The toilets are down stairs and badly need a makeover.The... read more

Good food and a great view of Lake Rotorua and its activities. Always feel like I'm on holiday when I eat here. Excellent macaroni cheese! My favourite cafe in Rotorua.

We went to explore the lake and decided to stop for a milkshake and a bite to eat. The good... location is truly spectacular right on the lake and the milkshake was nice (even though they were in take away cups). Bad things...staff did minimum, windows dirty making view foggy and the food, oh the food...its all pre-prepared to an... More

The Food is here is good and well sized, tasty and well presented. The coffee is also pretty good. Being a barista myself, i am picky about having a good quality coffee to get you going in the mornings. Unfortunately that is where the good points stop. The service here is terrible, no one smiles, no one acknowledges you, if... More

As part of our private tour of Rotorua from our cruise ship, we stopped here for what turned out to be a late lunch. It wasn't as a bad as previous reviews had lead me to believe. Whilst the food wasn't the greatest and the prices were on high side, we were hungry and the food hit the spot for... More

Turned up for lunch on a Wednesday and the service was very poor, Prices were UN clear and there we no hot food to choose from, the cakes looked UN appatosing. My mum has trouble getting up stairs as she has a disability and well it didn't help that there was no ramp or anything for wheel chairs. I went... More

Given the absolute lakefront location of the Lakeside Cafe, on the lake corniche and close to both the lake cruises pier and St Faiths Church, this cafe should be in the perfect spot to provide a great relaxed dining experience, but it fails pretty miserably. Service is very average, the cabinet food is unappealing and expensive and looks like something... More

A group of about twelve of us arrived here on a rainy afternoon as part of a tour. We queued for ages for service, and when we did get served it was with reluctance. The tables were covered with used dishes, and we had to clear some to one side to find a space. Not a place I would wish... More

We specially went here because we saw it advertised. Wasn't that impressed. There weren't many people there and the service was very slow. Would hate to think what it would be like if it was busy.
