Good dinner in the end

I gave Mokoia 4 stars because of the service, presentation and atmosphere. Called to arrange a shuttle pick up after I was told I can do it the day of my booking...not the case I was told "look, I'll call you back" and hung up on. Called back 6 hours later, someone said I couldn't arrange a shuttle... read more

I was taken to Mokoia Restaurant for my Birthday with a promise of a fine dining experience. We came away with a fine dining bill of $275 for two, however, at no point did the food or the service justify the money that we parted with. The most surprising events of the evening were when we chose the wine matching... More

Melt in the mouth food. Served with uncomplicated skill. Everything was divine. Highly recommend.the choice of their shared menus for two made it easy to sample more than one dish each. Even though portions were smaller than the single mains, none of the dishes flavours were lost.

If you are staying at Wai Ora Lakeside Resort & Spa, I strongly recommend you to have at least your dinner in Mokoia (if you are staying in Rotorua's city center, no need to go that far ; there are plenty of great restaurants downtown too). The venue is a little bit old-fashioned and the decoration would need to be... More

My husband suggested that that we go there for lunch after dropping his brother off at the airport. We were attended to straight away (one of my pet peeves is not being aknowledged by wait staff anywhere). We ordered our meals and didnt have to wait long and it was very tasty indeed. Sevice was perfect and attentive by a... More

Other group tour members including myself truly had a lovely and enjoyable time eating the most incredible beef steak. Our tour leader had been telling us about this during the whole trip before we arrive. It was the best meal of the whole trip. The worst part is the bigot waiter who pushed two lovely women around. Not a good... More

After they told us it was close to where we staying.....a $50 cab ride later.....not a good start. Average menu, a lot of fried bland food. Dated decor and no real atmosphere..... Move on can't recommend

The food was quite expensive for what was served. Ambitious and inventive but the kitchen didn't quite pull it off. Ultimately rather average meals. The decor was also dated and the music was elevator-esque. On the plus side, the service was excellent

We did not think Rotorua could come up with more than the average pub, but there it was: a culinary delight, amazing combinations of foods, well made in all respects and extremely well presented. The atmosphere was delightfully subdued, and we could actually have a conversation in between bites. Entrees, mains and deserts, and 2 bottles of wine for 115NZ... More

Nice Christmas Eve dinner with my wife, good presentation of dishes and excellent taste. Professional and friendly staff, for complete this fine dining restaurant you need just work better in bar area. But nice location for a dinner in Rotorua with a lake view. Finally the bill was a little expensive for the not complete fine dining restaurant!!
