We went here on our first night in Paihia. There was only one fish to choose from and it was pretty average (and mine had bones left in). The chips were quite nice and served in wire baskets. We were a party of 6, but tables only seated 4 which made it a bit awkward. There was a huge screen... More

We went to Shippey's because of all the positive reviews. The food was good. It is known for it's fish and chips. The fish is lightly battered and there are a number of different types of fish to choose from. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the view.

Well perhaps not our catch directly, but a share of the catch from the mornings fishing trip! It was great to be able to get this cooked up with some yummy chips to make for some pretty awesome Fn'C! Excellent value for money if you can do it this way but also worth it if you're less adventurous & don't... More

My husband and I ate here with friends for dinner. The restaurant is set in a ship that sits near to the bridge at Waitangi. As it was winter we were taken down in the ship where there is a bar area, large tv and tables. Unique setting that was very well set up. We all ordered the fish and... More

We stopped for lunch at Shippey's and enjoyed some oysters, and fish and chips. The fish and chips were very well done, and we really enjoyed our meal. It is definitely not the cheapest fish n chip shop in the world, but the prices were still quite reasonable the quality was great.

I went with my son for a basic cheapish meal on the last day of our trip to the Bay of Islands. We were pleasantly suurprised and had an excellent meal. I had a starter of the most huge delicious oysters I've had in years (and I have had many around the world). I then had the Dory which they... More

Having enjoyed great fish and chips all around New Zealand we were disappointed with our fish here at Shippey's which was too wet and made the batter and the chips soggy. The worst we had in our whole trip.

We came to Shippey's for fish and chips for dinner, we loved that the restaurant is on an old boat! The fish was excellent and well priced. We would have preferred if the staff had been more attentive & greeted us when we arrived.

We went to Shippey's and had bluenose, chips & salad with a side of calamari. The size of the fish was smaller than our local chippy but still a good size and in a lovely light batter - very nice, as was the good size pieces of calamari. The novel use of the boat & it's history added to the... More
