Disappointed with the food

We were looking forward to a good feed of fish and chips and whilst passing by saw some of the food on offer and decided to take a punt on the fish and chips. By taking a punt we decided to forgo a trip to the Mangonui Fish Shop. We were disappointed to say the least. The fish was greasy... read more

Ordered fish and chips plus potate fritters. The chips tasted like they had been re-heated more than once. The fish was very expensive, very greasy and just tasted terrible. The potate fritters were like rubbers. They were impossible to bite into. You could sole your shoes with thm. Took the food back and explained but the lady who attended to... More

we decided this was a place that would not get our business, since , while we were walking along the street in the evening, we heard foul and loud language coming from the restaurant. They may have been cleaning up and getting ready to close, but we thought it was offensive and not a desirable place to even try. Food... More

Only fish and chip shop in central Paihia. It ws rediculously expensive and less than average quality and slow to prepare. Staff were just teenagers. I went around the bluff to Ti beach on a later occasion and spent half the price on much nicer fish and chips.

Staff were very helpful when ordering. Can't understand why people are calling it expensive? Certainly a lot cheaper than fish and chips in the UK, and better quality! Very nice grilled fish, delicious crispy chips. Will be back.

Beautifully cooked and very fresh fish and chips from the takeaway, eaten on the beach. What could be better!

When you're staying in Paihia, sometimes fish and chips is exactly what you want. But this is pushing it. $7 for a piece of hoki. The other main option is "dory", same price. That's a lot to pay for each pretty average battered piece of fish. Add $4 for a scoop of chips, plus a mediocre spring roll or two,... More

It is a street side take away but with efficient and friendly service and great fish and chips. The park over the road makes for a meal with a view.

Nuggets were straight from the chicken gristle mincer....good for kids not so much if you are 8 and over. Burger was big - a full head of lettuce help convince us that it was a healthy option for lunch! The meat patty was a bit dry ... And tasted a bit pre fab... Deep fryer worked a treat as the... Got some extremely over priced takeaways that were mediocre at best. Chips were ok but the potato fritters were inedible and $2 each! 'Deep fried cardboard'. Definitely won't go back.
