The drive up the tree lined road to the winery is really something ! We arrived at the winery and restaurant with no lunch booking on a busy long weekend. We were told they were fully booked but come back in half an hour. We did and asked again and was told the table was ready. Wow ! I had... More

The grounds are beautiful and the entrance to the Mission is breathtaking. However, we were not greeted on arrival at the restaurant and the service staff were 'cool'. This 'coolness' reflected the interior atmosphere as well. The food was just OK but the poor service and unfriendliness of the staff was the disappointment. Would not recommend.

We booked dinner at the restaurant as we were staying at the Mission's Farmhouse accommodation - this was as a celebration for our honeymoon to NZ. We were given a table by the window (I think it may have been slightly too late to sit outside at that point) and the view is absolutely lovely. The service to begin with... More

Wonderful location. But I was concerned that with the wine tasting, the same glass was used, through the whites into the reds. I had to ask for water to refresh and no water biscuits provided. The second visit was for lunch, beautiful setting outside. Sadly the lamb was tough. It hadn't been rested long enough to soften. The vegetables were... More

We took some good friends for lunch recently, and I had forgotten how good Mission Estate is. The first part of the drive up to the winery is deceiving, and then you turn a corner and everyone's jaws drop when they see the amazing architecture. The interior and gardens are just as beautiful. We had a lovely lunch sitting outside,... More

What a fabulous setting for a five star lunch. The service and ambience in the gardens was top notch. A pleasure to go there with small children too. Thank you!

We spent the Christmas eve dinner in this so charming restaurant. The staff is so polite and professional, the service is great as in the best Italian restaurant. The food is well cooked, the presentation is superb and I remembered a certain "European" style. I like NZ wines, so it's a good place to taste it. The price is in... More

We liked the great food, attention to detail and superb efficient service. Group of ten for lunch today ALL reported all dishes excellent. Value is compelling for quality in an unbeatable location in NZ's oldest winery, Mission Estate 1851. Highest marks we are able to give and top recommendations

Went for lunch. Had lamb shanks and then tiramisu for dessert. There was nothing to fault. Service and food were beyond superb. I eat out a quite a bit and this is the best meal I have had in many years. The tiramisu was phenomenally good. Wine is excellent too. Suggest Pelorus methode champenoise. Only warning - not an inexpensive... More
