While visiting from Australia we had lunch twice a day apart. Ordered a selection of entrees and appetisers and we were delighted by the quality of the food. The sardines are to die for, the gnocchi as well and I really enjoyed the sashimi salad. The kids loved the donuts for desert; both the taste and theatre associated with injecting... More

Had 2 really good dinners and would have gone back but ran out of time. There really is a Mr D and he really cooks there. Some of the dishes--caramelized onion tart---are unusual and delicious. Got advice on NZ craft beer--maitre d' very helpful. Full of locals and full of energy. Delightful experience.

Service was very good and staff friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the wine. Food was great and the desserts particularly delicious - gingerbread with the poached rhubarb was excellent. Not an ideal dinner menu if you have young children although my 8 year old enjoyed the gnocchi. The doughuts are good (perhaps too much cinnamon) and injecting your own... More

We booked in for a family Christmas dinner for 12 and the evening was just wonderful. The staff and service is attentive and friendly, our courses were serviced in a timely manner and the 6 kids/teenagers in our group could have been better looked after. Even though the kitchen was flat-out, David one of the owners & chef, was amazingly... More

Two of us had 3 starters: lamb croquette, chorizo and pork sausage on a stick, asparagus w/ balsamic dressing. The lamb croquette (3 large pcs) was the best as they were crispy on the outside yet soft and tender on the inside. The chutney it came with was so delicious that we ate up every single morsel of it. Asparagus... More

Went for breakfast with the family menu was great, innovative and not your typical cafe fare. Staff were great but not over the top. Price a little expensive but you don't mind a few extra dollar for quality . I'm a chef in hawkes bay and will definitely be returning

I asked our wine tour guide where he would take his mother for dinner and this is his recommendation. The food choice and service were excellent and priced very reasonably.

What a find this was, we visited twice just to have the doughnuts. We delayed our leaving Napier to have a coffee and a treat.

EXPENSIVE - and nothing here the kids will like. If you are going as a couple and want to spend some money - go for it. Service was curt. Had potential - but I'd pass next time.
