Very good traditional Italian restaurant

I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Napier. It is a family run restaurant, the food is delicious and the staff very friendly and competent. It is probably a little on the expensive side but the quality of the food reflects this. I would suggest making a reservation, we went on a Thursday night and it was full... More

We ate out at this lovely small family restaurant on a wet drizzly evening. From the initial very friendly welcome by the owner, the lovely white tables cloths and starched napkins, the great selection of italian wines and a most delicious bruschetta followed by mouth watering fillet steaks with sauces to die for, this was a wonderful evening dinner for... Starter (mixed platter) was OK. Risotto stodgy and tasteless. Very expensive meal in an average setting. We felt rushed as we were going to a show and they knew the timing of it. We had more than enough time. Open fire (flat screen TV) is tacky and they insisted on keeping the door closed making it a sauna. Where is... More

This restaurant is situated near the city centre with both interior seating, and tables out on the pavement. The service is excellent, and overseen by the owner who keeps a fatherly eye on all the activity. We had a great meal, and the food was excellent. Well worth a visit.

We happened upon this lovely restaurant, and they found us a good table, even during the Art Deco Weekend, when the whole town was buzzing. We were, I have to admit, a little suspicious as we couldn't get a table without reserving, and were beginning to lose hope of finding anywhere decent to eat. This restaurant is well beyond merely... my wife and i happened upon the trattoria by accident, as it somehow had not made much of an impact on previous trip advisor reviewers. how fortunate for us. the ambience was excellent, the menu was interesting, the food was homecooked and very tasty with reasonable portions, and the service was fantastic (enzo, the owner, was checking on his patrons... Had a very good dinner at this restaurant - pretty old style both in terms of food and approach but well worth a visit.

There seemed to be lack of traditional restaurants in central Napier. We went to this restaurant on two occasions and had excellent fish. The owner is Italian and made us most welcome. A good wine list but he has a few bottles which are not on the menu.

There was nothing authentic about this Italian - the lasagne was an inedible concoction of pulverised mince, the salad a poor apology of lettuce and the fish was accompanied by greasy vegetables. To add insult to injury it was far from cheap. Maybe we were unlucky but cannot recommend.
