I went to a function at the cafe recently and there were various issues. To start with, they hadn't provided enough seats so one group had to sit in a separate area. We also asked for all the kids to get their drinks first but unfortunately this never happened and on the set menu there was nothing available for children.... More

When we travel to Cambridge or Taupo, we always stop at this cafe which is under new management. It is just before Gordonton on State Highway 1B and you can also visit the lovely historic house on site. The cafe is housed in the former cricket pavilion and now named the Oval Clubhouse. Delicious carrot cake (huge slices!) and good... More

Visited there today with a work colleague. As a reservation was made a reserved table was set aside for us, unfortunately the table was a little unstable so had to move, the service was quick and efficient, the meal was delicious, fish with mash and salad. My first visit and i will return

We stopped at Woodlands cafe on our way to Hobbiton, 'cos we were starving. We order poached eggs with salmon, toast and baby spinach for me and mushroom omelet with salad and toast for my hubby. We waited ages for the food and when it came the dishes weren't complete. My poached eggs were overcooked and without spinach :( and... More

This was the worse lunch I have ever had ever ever. Atrocious value for money. Terrible service. Tiny meals. ( if you get what you ordered) medium steak that you could make shoes out of. It needs to decide whether its a restaurant or cafe. But at the moment it fails on both accounts. Will never go back that's for... More

We visited Woodlands today for a coffee with family. Brilliant location and atmosphere, located in the grounds of a heritage house/venue. Really nice and relaxing environment, even in the middle of winter. The service was outstanding and if this is to be a hallmark of the new management, then they will succeed! Good coffee too.
