It's easy to imagine that you are an intrepid traveller sailing around the world when you visit The Sitting Duck cafe. It's tucked into the side of Auckland's largest marina and most days there are fit suntanned types carting supplies or equipment back and forward to their boats berthed just a stone throw away. The cafe is easy to find... More

Had a catch up with work colleague for lunch. We sat inside merely because of the breeze but even so had a very good meal. The café has a very good turn over and at lunch times can get quite busy. Sensibly priced, fast service but NOT fast food. It was plentiful, well cooked, well presented and well priced. The... More

It is a treat to find a cafe right beside the water in Auckland, and Sitting Duck has a perfect, relaxing spot beside the Westhaven Marina, and below the city side of the harbour bridge. Parking is fairly easy either beside the cafe or along the waterfront in either direction. About half-a-dozen tables are situated outside at the water's edge,... More

You don't have to be a tourist to enjoy this café. It has an enviable location at Westhaven Marina, right beside the city approach to the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Our most recent visit was just days ago when we met friends for brunch. It was a glorious day so we sat at one of the tables outside, beside the marina.... More

The sitting duck has been around for ages.. I have eaten there many times. It's good fresh cafe food. Today I had the penne pasta with flaked salmon, capers and cherry tomatoes. The staff are friendly and efficient and its nice looking out over the marina and Harbour bridge. The cafe itself is a bit rough around the edges but... More

Restaurants where you can sit by the water are unfortunately rare, and this is a big plus for Sitting Ducks. They go good breakfasts and brunch/lunches, a good place for a relaxed start to the day with the paper, if you can get an outdoor table overlooking the boats. Don't forget to feed the ravenous fish! Cosed on public holidays.
