Fantastic hospitality and wonderful food

I can't praise Ian and the team at Taiko more highly, a wonderful evening spent in the company of one of the best hosts in the business. The food was fresh, and excellent and beautifully presented. For the price it's safe to say this is a wow factor. Great sake, get Ian to show you some of his... read more

We hadn't been to Taiko for 5 years so thought we would return as we hadn't had Japanese in a while. The service was good and the food was nice. We had sashimi, tuna Tataki (although called something different on the menu but pretty much the same thing), Karage chicken, teriyaki chicken and the sliced beef. All was very nice... More

I wouldn't say that anything was wrong with the place. Now call me old fashioned but for 2 people to spend $200 on dinner I would expect to feel a little more satisfied. Great location, lovely staff.

Excellent place, the only restaurant in Auckland I keep returning to. Fresh food, well presented and a reasonable price. Too hard for me to pick one favourite dish, just work your way through the whole menu. (The house Saki is hard to say no to)

My Husband and I have been to Taiko several times and it is always so enjoyable. Ian is a great host and the food is excellent. Their Tuna sashimi is beautifully prepared and the chicken & pork dishes (done various ways) are melt in the mouth tender. Can't stay away from the Tiger prawns either. Haven't yet reached the dessert... More

Nice little place in kingsland, food was good... renkon (lotus) was different to any way I've ever had it so that was good and the teriyaki salmon was probably the best dish out of the lot. Worth checking out at some point

It's been over a year since I've been back to Taiko (which is disappointing as the restaurant is a 5 minute drive from home). Arrived with the partner just after 7pm and the restaurant was lively with a couple of free tables. We ordered Karaage Chicken succulent deep fried marinated chicken thigh with a ginger sauce , Flamed-Seared Tuna Aburi... More

Out of the way down by the train station in Kingsland. It was quite quiet on a Thursday night, but the vibe is pretty cool. Possibly the best Takoyaki I've had and the Beef Tataki was great too. Sushi was very nice and the beer was cold. Lovely little place to come for a relaxing and romantic dinner. Very good... More

I enjoy going to Taiko simply because of its nice Japanese food. Friendly manager Ian has lived in Japan for quite a while and has been running Taiko for some times with a reputation of authentic Japanese food. If you are indecisive on what to have, Ian can surely give some good recommendations. My friends & I went for a... More
