Quiet atmosphere : very romantic. Service was perfect. In every details. Service of the wine was flawless. Food was perfect (one minor detail : the broth became quite redundant along the diner and a bit too salty). Will surely go again for special occassions.

Tiny amounts of kinda odd tastes put together. My steak was almost invisible in size. The highlight was the tasty butter with warm bread and the low point was the waiter that did a massive sneeze over us (uncovered). Extra mayo I suppose. Allegedly the top rest in Akl according to ta but doesn't compare to depot etc imo...

The French cafe has excellent service but didn't have the foodie " wow" factor for us that we experienced at other similarly priced fine dining Auckland restaurants- Clooney and Kazuya. We chose the tasting $140 menu rather than a la carte and were disappointed. We usually spend ages talking about our foodie dining experience but this, while nice, was less... More

We have always wanted to go to The French Cafe and with our daughters enjoying a concert at the nearby Power Station we took our chance. Booked two months in advance. There was no disappointment. We'd argue that it was the best meal we have ever had. It was the sort of food that you didn't want to eat because... More

The service was good, but the food was fair to say, underwhelming. Perhaps the tasting menu was not such a great idea. Normally when we go to a fine dining restaurant we have a mouthwateringly good time and talk about how amazing the food was a long time. This is not the case with the French Cafe. The matching wines... More

After three attempts to secure a reservation, we finally secured a table for two on a Friday night. We booked 4 months in advance. Worth the wait and then some. This is world class fine dining. Service impeccable and our 4 courses were well timed. Standout was the salmon and crayfish. We are from Wellington and are spoilt for choice,... More

Quite simply a superb dining experience! We'd wanted to visit here for some time and so as a birthday treat, my wife organised dinner here. Service, ambience and atmosphere is superb and the dining is divine!. I had the venison with cherry sauce and it had amazing flavours...really enjoyed it...!

Service and atmosphere excellent. We all had the tasting menu. Two dishes were very good and the rest were ok. Rather disappointed to be honest. We were all expecting to be blown away with each and every dish, and not one of the dishes I would have ordered again on its own - this was the general sentiment shared around... More

Dinner at The French Cafe was a real treat. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and professional sizes. Their portions were just right so that you enjoyed all of the courses Definitely the highest quality service we have experienced in Auckland..
