Excellent Markets and Tasty Food

La Cigale is a relaxing place to go for a french bistro dinner, the portions are large and the food tasty and satisfying. I highly recommend visiting the markets that are held on Saturday and Sunday. You can happily browse around the stalls which have an excellent selection of food to eat there if... read more

Food was good. Although the sitting places is very limited but worth the wait. You will have a varieties of food choices at La Cigale and you will love it. Please walk around at the market area if you come by this restaurant. It is definitely a different experience to be here.

Lunch food very average. Service non-existent. Coffee good but not hot. I had booked a table which we were shown to, then moved as that had been booked by someone else and my booking had been "lost". My chair was squashed up against another person's at the table behind me. No attempt at table service, even when someone cleared our... More

I just returned from having the lunch special....slow roasted beef.....it was the best I ever had of a dish that is basically short ribs in a broth. Very good quality and value for the $18.50 price. The mixed greens salad was extremely fresh with a subtle vinaigrette dressing. Also came with excellent French bread and butter. Really enjoyed the flavor... More

We went to the Thursday night bistro dinner. We went as we used to live in France and our son was born there, so we went for a family birthday dinner, which I mentioned when booking our table. The website states 'kiwi informality' - be prepared - this means ordering each dish from a separate station and paying there and... More

We booked here on one of their specials nights - "A night in Paris' and it was fantastic. They had a great band playing which added to the atmosphere and a brilliant menu available of 3-4 starters, 3 mains and 2 deserts to choose from. We both started with the escargot which was wonderful, then I had the duck and... More

Excellent market with wonderful produce especially the cheeses, olives and chicken. Plenty of food to snack on or you can go into the cafe which is small but has good food. The evenings that the restaurant opens with limited choice menu are great value , simple but very good standard with an extremely interesting selection of wines. Plenty of car... More

As per the heading, good food and a good atmosphere, however, did find pricing to be more akin to that for fine dining and this isn't exactly that. The live music was also a bonus, but, it did not allow for talking to fellow diners while they held sway.

Arrived early on Sunday to peruse the stalls. Had a very decent coffee from the inside vendor, washed down with a lemon and sugar crepe. It wasn't the fluffiest crepe I've eaten, a little dense but still worth the 5 bucks. Also ate an armful of French pastries from a few different vendors, all good. Left with a bottle of... More
