We went here with family, braving the wind and rain to get there. It was busy but luckily we'd asked them to reserve a table. It's just a little place, not fancy but it's clean and when we ordered our food it arrived pretty quickly and looked good, as it proved to be. The won tons were excellent, so light... More

My partner and I went to Selera for lunch. I had the gong-bao chicken and my partner ordered the laksa. They were both delivered quickly and at a good price for New Market. Both dishes had a real authenticity to them. Everything tasted fresh and SO flavoursome. It's a pity the menu doesn't use a proper heat measuring system though.... More

Had Beef Rendang and Char Kway Teow here. Beef Rendang was good but the noodle was just average. Busy restaurant and quick turnover, the service team might be not smiling all time time but efficient service provided.

I go here semi regularly by myself and with others for either lunch or dinner. The food is good- taste and quality. Sometimes they can run out of ingredients like on Saturday night, no ingredients for laksa and this meant lots of other dishes were not available. Service is cheerful and despite the busyness, I've always managed to get a... More

Good range of dishes and all very authentic. Basic Formica-top tables and self service tea, ie. nothing flash but you're not here for the decor. Gets quite busy from about 6:30.

Has heaps of good reviews but didn't live up to them. Beef Rendang was way too sweet and the beef reduced to a mush. The Kway Teow was good though. Service was disinterested at best. There are certainly better Malaysian around.

Selera is simply a great restaurant at not a lot of money. I dropped in with a work colleahue for a bite after drinks at the Lumsden across the road. i had the butter fish which comes in a delicious crumbed batter with rice. For the money ($16) you just can't beat it. The service is prompt, the staff friendly.... More
