Seriously, this would have to be probably the best laksa I've ever eaten. Literally a salad bowl sized laksa - extremely taste, not too much coconut milk and nice and spicy - don't breathe whilst you eat otherwise you will clear out your sinuses! Very basic setting but lovely friendly service - they had run out the night I went... More

It was quite busy for a week-night which suggests is a good place to eat. The portion was quite decent.

Stopped by here for an early lunch with my wife and her sister. Being Malaysian-born Kiwis, we're always keen to sample 'Malaysian' restaurants/cafes. I must say, Selera Cafe offers real authentic Malaysian dishes. The curry was excellent and not the watered down versions you can get in some of the restaurants in Wellington. The portions are generous and for the... More

We went here with family, braving the wind and rain to get there. It was busy but luckily we'd asked them to reserve a table. It's just a little place, not fancy but it's clean and when we ordered our food it arrived pretty quickly and looked good, as it proved to be. The won tons were excellent, so light... More

My partner and I went to Selera for lunch. I had the gong-bao chicken and my partner ordered the laksa. They were both delivered quickly and at a good price for New Market. Both dishes had a real authenticity to them. Everything tasted fresh and SO flavoursome. It's a pity the menu doesn't use a proper heat measuring system though.... More

Had Beef Rendang and Char Kway Teow here. Beef Rendang was good but the noodle was just average. Busy restaurant and quick turnover, the service team might be not smiling all time time but efficient service provided.

I read the reviews and had heard from friends that this place was fantastic I went on Saturday for a takeaway as the Sri Penang was not open at that time Ordered my food-was told it would take 15 mins max After 25 they had forgotten the order and instead of making me a fresh meal simply scrapped a plate... I go here semi regularly by myself and with others for either lunch or dinner. The food is good- taste and quality. Sometimes they can run out of ingredients like on Saturday night, no ingredients for laksa and this meant lots of other dishes were not available. Service is cheerful and despite the busyness, I've always managed to get a... More
