Just out of the city in a humble suburban neighborhood is a gem of a Japanese restaurant called halu . It serves one of the best authentic Japanese cuisine I have ever tasted . Intriguing food presentation coupled with sublime taste and freshness make this a must try for sushi lovers. One dish that stands out is the grilled octopus.... More

What a surprise to be introduced to this little gem. The food is fantastic in fact it is very similar to that famous restaurant "Nabu" but without the price tag. We have introduced several friends to this restaurant now and they have enjoyed the flavours immensely. Do yourself a favour and make a reservation you might be lucky to get... More

We ordered a bowl of ramen but it came looked and tasted more like instant noodles that you can get from the supermarket.... More

We went to Halu because of the write ups on Tripe Adviser, and they were correct. It's a bit like a Japanese version of tapas, small servings, we ordered three entries and four mains for the two of us and that was plenty. The food is very beautifully presented, and very yummy. It is a smallish restuarant out of town,... More

Delicious meal, beautifully presented. Small but interesting menu. A real culinary adventure. Well worth a try and definitely worth the trip up to Mt Hawthorne. By far the best Japanese we've had in WA. "Tapas style" sharing plates. We tried half the menu between the 4 of us for about $75 per head including drinks and deserts. Not cheap -... More
