Cosy Traditional Greek Joint

Recommended by a friend to try as it was his favorite Greek restaurant. It did not disappoint. Strategic location as it is in CBD. Setting was traditional but ambient was relax and cosy. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The mixed dips as starter was fantastic. Loved the meat and seafood... read more

This is a simple Greek restaurant. There are no traditional table linens but the place is clean and comfortable. The service was quick, the staff was helpful and the wine was decent. We ordered lamb as a main and an appetizer plate for a starter. The portions were generous.

We usually try this restaurant every twelve months when we are in Melbourne. Unfortunately the food was not up to the standard that we have enjoyed there previously. The dips and pita bread were good but the main courses were just average. My friend had the octopus as a main and could not eat it as it just too tough.... More

Were visiting Melbourne to celebrate my mothers Birthday and to catch up with friends to attend the Hermitage exhibition. Wonderful night out...food was plentiful and delicious...although as we were seated right next to the live trio of singers/band members..a tad on the loud side. Most of the night we all felt like we were yelling to be heard by our... More

This place was recommended as having authentic Greek food, but we found it a bit disappointing. The meat was overcooked and dry, and the menu is really not vegetarian-friendly. Service was mediocre.

We were really looking forward to their "signature" slow cooked lamb dish. Arrived at 7.30pm for dinner - sold out! Really? They had also sold out of the lamb souvlaki - so had the mixed grill with the gyro lamb. The only edible tasty meat on the plate was the one lamb cutlet. The gyro meat was dry and mostly... More

My first and only visit to Tsindos was in a group of five for my father's 60th birthday. We were situated in the downstairs seating area and were shocked at the poor quality of service at this restaurant. We were off to a bad start when we prompted the staff to explain the difference between the "Grilled Cypriot Pitta Bread"... More

This isn't the kinda restaurant that appeals to a casual passerby. The decor is dated and looks bland. Sorry! But don't let that stop you from having a delicious authentic Greek meal served with passion and flavour. 3 of us had a number of shared starters, including calamari, octopus, saganaki, zucchini, egg plant, Greek salad, cutlets and red wine. Great... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
