From the 3 of us that ate here not one was overly happy with their meal. I admit the service was very good. The location is also great but I feel that maybe you might be paying a location tax on top of your meal as the food left something to be desired. I had the King George whiting fillets... More

Hi Byron T, Thank you for your feedback and choosing to dine with us. The King George Whiting fillets (special) is priced at $38 because it is fresh from the local market and not frozen. In addition to this, the dish is served with a side of Roquette and not garnish to compliment the dish. The Atlantic Salmon (special) was... More

Quality food: very good. Service: very good. Ambience: very good. Location: very good. Extra: I was ussing the wi-fi, very good (quite faster than in my 4* hotel) Price: very expensive So all coherent. I ate a crispy and tastey calamary as starter and a fantastic deliceous barramundi as a main. No dessert no coffee. Two glasses of white wine.... More

Very fresh seafood well cooked and very tasty! Small serves though and quite pricey! We went for a special occasion and enjoyed it but would not go here often due the lack of value for money.

We were walking down Collins on our way back to our hotel this afternoon & stopped to check out the menu. Although our concierge recommended another seafood restaurant, we liked the friendliness of the person we spoke to at the restaurant. Our instincts were well rewarded! I had flounder (best ever) & my husband had fish & chips, which he... More

Dinner for two was an expensive but very nice finish to the New Year. We started with a not so good experience which was the chargrilled balmain bug. No taste whatsoever but having finished the dish we still felt we should mention this to the waiter. The manager came and happily provided a grilled prawn dish for my wife as... More

Hi Ffsquare, Thank you for your detailed feedback. We are sorry about the char grilled Morton Bay bugs you received, we regret this being served to you. The reason the two prawns are priced at $24 is because they are Skull Island prawns, these are very unique to source and our supplier only catches them once a year. Despite this... More

Another fabulous evening hosted by folk who know their business thoroughly. The staff are all great. I've been in love with Crayfish mornay for years and they just do it superbly. My wife had scallops thermidore. Just so glad these older known dishes are being served in style today. Very happy to give our thumbs up!

Whenever we go to see a show at either Her Majesty's or The Regent, we always pop in for a quick lunch. We recently visited Box On Collins and yet again we were not disappointed with the quality and consistency of both the food and service standard.

Ordered half a dozen oysters. Sent half back .......... didn't enjoy the soapy taste. Scallops very tasty, but slightly overcooked. Moreton Bay bugs tasty but $33 for one.. Chardonnay $12.5 per glass. Altogether rather overpriced, I thought.

Hi Sashaedge, Thank you for your feedback. Box on Collins can confirm that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the Oysters you were served. Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
