We were a group of six last Friday. Rumi had come highly recommended to us and we were keen to explore the food and the setting. Special thanks to Patience who assisted us with meal choices. She knew the menu inside out and could answer our many and varied questions. What an asset. We had the 5 course banquet and... More

Fantastic middle Eastern food with a very slick style. Professional and friendly service. My favorite dish is the Cauliflower one. This place doesn't miss a beat!

Simply the best Middle Eastern meal I've had. Glorious scents and spices. Go with a group so you can share as many dishes as possible. Start with an arak if you have a taste for aniseed; like ouzo, only better.

We has the seasonal banquet which consisted of beautiful cured beef, pickled vegetables, roasted Jerusalem artichokes, warm yogurt soup and many other delights I'd never been served in a Melbourne middle eastern restaurant. Authentic but not run of the mill and very tasty.

Rumi did not disappoint on our third visit. Service was impeccable and the food was as good as it has been. Roast lamb shoulder is definitely the signature go-to-dish. Wife ordered the fish stew with rice pilaf ad it was very decent as well. Overall a good night out! Will visit again for sure.

A standout restaurant, with beautiful decor and a great menu. All the options are delicious: fried cauliflower, mushrooms, school prawns, BBQ king prawns, the Persian meatballs, cabbage salad, an lamb shoulder. The cheese cigars is so addictive. Reservations of groups of more than 6 offer only a set banquet of $50 per person.

Sunday night, it's cold in Melbourne and I head out for an early dinner. 6-8pm sitting at Rumi. What a wonderful experience. The service was bright, friendly and helpful, the food just flowed out of the kitchen at a pace that did not rush you or make you wait for more! The starter was the smashed olives, then Mains were... The Persian meat balls, the fried cauliflower, the spiced school prawns, the field mushrooms, the roasted capsicum, the Freekeh salad, the cabbage salad...even the Brussels sprouts! You've no idea how good food can taste until you've had Rumi cook it for you. It's my first choice. Paleo friendly.

Many options on the menu that I probably wouldn't normally order as not very adventurous in my meal choices, however I took a risk and definitely paid off. The meatballs and the siglar are a must. I like that is a high quality restaurant without the pretentiousness. On my second visit there was a muck up with my book (possibly... More

Went there yesterday. The food was excellent. Ribs and quail, superb! Service was excellent. Dessert was very sweet, but this was pre-warned by the waiter.
