OPA! Lovely dishes, slacky service

Haven't had real Greek food in a while. Walking in the restaurant I was excited and overtaken by the smells of roasted lamb and such. A great menu offering all your favorites and more. The octopus appetizer is the best I've ever had! Next we nibbled on the vegetarian appetizer plate. Great dips... read more

Have been coming here for 30 years. Best Greek food, to die for. Always busy, not expensive. Open 24 hours 7 days a week.

We by accident happened to go there and it appeared to be excellent Greek restaurant. Food was very tasty and reasonable price (mains are big portions) and the service was fast and friendly. We were suppose to eat just a bit, but we stayed few hours. Recommend! Seemed to be famous place according to queues.

Returned here recently for the first time in about 12 months as we are from country Victoria and always try something different when we visit Melbourne. We made a joint decision after a long day to return to Stallactites for hopefully another delicious plate of open lamb souvlaki but sadly it was not to be. It all started well with... More

We arrived and were seated, then as there were so many of us they put us upstairs :) Had good service from wait staff. Found the person I paid was not very pleasant. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had Mousaka, but found it a bit tasteless and too overcrowded with potatoes. Not like Greek Mousaka that I have eaten before.

The food here is fantastic! Coming from interstate there is not a lot of Greek restaurants. The variety of Greek food here is amazing. The lamb dish on the special board was delicious and tender. The moussaka was divine but my overall favourite was the cabbage rolls! These guys are open 24 hours a day, busy for most of them... More

I love this place after a long night at lucky, tfu or wah wah, being up all night this joint is the best for a juicy kebab to fix your hangover! Cheap meals, with that awesome greek flavour. I take all my mates here whenever I'm in the city, the staff sometimes are shy but most of the time they're... More

I travel to Melbourne frequently and every couple of trips I head back to Stalactites for a greek salad and chicken yiros meat meal. Always leave very full. Always seems busy however they normally find me a seat fairly quickly. Many nationalities and tourists eating there, just a great busy place to get a fresh meal then on my way.

We were attending the 1 pm show at Her Majesty's and revisited Stalactites for a very early lunch. Made welcome and promptly seated, I was advised that my order would take about 15 minutes to cook, which was fine. Water was brought to the table,. Each had a soft drink We both ordered open souvlakis, thinking that they would be... More

Very crowded and lots of folks trying to get in when we arrived. But we were seated almost immediately. The souvlaki were the best I've eaten since Athens in 1972, and the salad I ordered was huge, big enough for 2. It is not a place to go for a special event or for an intimate evening. But if you... Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
