You don't go there for the food. You don't go there for the service. You go there because the establishment has this old school 1950s classic charm. The wooden bench tops. Bourke st institution, I like the granita, the casual style, the food is fast and good, it is always the same type of experience a definitive style which I really enjoy. When in Melbourne, just great.

Have been coming here for years and it hasn't lost its appeal - food is great but perhaps the authentic atmosphere makes it even more special. Always crowded so you can't always get in when you want to but worth the effort if you love traditional Italian.

Enjoyed some wonderful pasta and friendly atmosphere in this great little place on Bourke street. Made welcome and didn't feel uncomfortable here on my own while exploring Melbourne while my husband was working here.

Looking for a classic Italian pasta dish then this is it.Unlicensed, noisy, vibrant and great food this place has it all.Friendly family style service this is the best cafe style Italian pasta place I have been to. I rarely eat out without wine but am happy to forgo the wine to eat here. "Simply the Best".

Dropped in On way to footy, running late, in and out within 20 mins. Main course and dessert, usual busy italian atmosphere. Great food and prices, cannot fault

I dined here recently with a friend and it's like stepping back in time, which I think adds to the charm of the place. We were seated at the bar and ordered pasta. The plates that arrived were very generous, and I ate most of mine. When we finished eating we were told the price of the bill and immediately... More

Always been a favourite since my late high-school years, where a visit to Pellegrinis was almost compulsory with every visit to the city. Normally busy with everyone gladly enjoying their food alongside others, with the waiters normally chatting and creating a warm, cozy experience. I had the bolognese last time and was sadly disappointed.. Seemed to lack the zest of... More
