Old School Italiano

Recommended by fellow Melbournites, my son and I made the trek down Bourke Street and the walk was certainly worth it! The little gem has just bar stools and a bench to eat at but it was packed to the hilt (always a good sign). From where we sitting we could see Nona cooking in the kitchen. Our... read more

Had been wanting to go here for ages and finally went with a friend for lunch. We ordered a plate of pasta each. The ravioli was fine but I found the lasagne disappointing. The vegetarian spaghetti verde was very good. We had granitas with our meal then coffee afterwards then one piece of cheesecake between the three of us. Cheesecake... More

I love this quaint little iconic restaurant. The boys who work there are awesome. The owner Sisto has been there forever and the food is amazing. Limited menu but all made from scratch in that good ole Italian way with love!!!! The coffee and Italian deserts are delicious to say the least. Warm and friendly environment - pls give it... More

For a small restaurant this place is just great for a feed. I had the spaghetti bolognese and it was just divine! I am excited to go back and try the other things on the menu which I feel will be well up to standards. I would highly recommend this place for anyone in the city who would like lunch... More

Delicious watermelon granita. Lovely Italian atmosphere: crowded, tight space and noisy but for our family always a delight to pop into. Not ideal for a big group as space is limited.

Just so Italian. You can wander in and find a stool and enjoy the smells and characters in this delightful little Bar. So cheap and cheerful. So much like all those places you love in Italy.

It's a must if you're visiting Melbourne. There's not much to say other than the coffee and the atmosphere are great. It's like stepping back in time, away from the hub-bub that is modern life. Sit down, have a drop of the finest espresso and then rejoin the world again. I've not eaten here yet, but the food always looks... More

Every visit and local must come to Pellegrinis once in your life. It is the best. Although i was not around when it first opened decades ago it sure feels like what it use to with long seated bar overlooking the service area, old style server, and the oven cooking the food within view. Has to be the best and... More

When you step into this gorgeous restaurant you feel like one of the family - Squahed together at the bar, on a table or in the back room it is very difficukt not to strike up a conversation with a total stranger! And the food is superb - al freshly made and authentic Italian! With no frills but genuine Italian... More
