Being a coffee addict, I haven't been paying enough attention lately to the explosion of gourmet chocolate shops opening around Melbourne. And now I am kicking myself for taking so long to discover Koko Black, a family run business. The beautifully furnished salons are a bit like walking into an old, British establishment club. Very comfortable when you need a... More

Koko black always have been my favourite choc place out of the 3 big chains in Melbourne. First time I tried the Collins Street branch, it was as good as usual for the hot choc and iced choc. i ordered the new apple crumble panna cotta, it was a bit of disappointment because the whole dessert was frozen. The panna... More

CHOCOLATE at it very best, the choice is amazing and you'll find yourself making excuses to return. If you enjoy the finer things in this life at a reasonable price, then do yourself a favour and get here, NOW !

I ordered a mocha for $8, it came in a tiny glass! It was very cold (seeing we're in Melbourne). When it came out it was quite cold, so much so that the chocolate in it had not melted and was still in solid form at the bottom of the milk. I asked if it could be reheated and I... More

My wife likes chocolate and even more coffee that is not rather than the standard lukewarm temp from a coffee machine. And she learned from Austrians to drink it with liquid cream. So it's good to be able to ask for and get a long black, hot with pouring cream on the side.

You can get a really nice hot chocolate here, with a variety to choose from. The only downside is they do not serve lactose free milk (only Soy as an alternative).

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
