We love Japanese Izakayas and thought we'd try this. It was saturday night and there was a table free and it seemed quite busy whereas other restaurants weren't quite so busy. The menu is quite limited by comparison to other places and eventually chose a number of dishes. The yakitori platter, yaki-Gyoza, croquettes and Katsu-curry all tasted ok, there was... More

Busy WHITE NIGHT, no booking and a pleasure surprise! Good food, value for the money. Would like to return in a normal night.

Have been dining here since 1995 always loved the place spent well like a $100 a head tipped well had so many birthday celebrations! " To be honest it all went bad when Wataru left the sushi chef for 10 years" great cheap japanese it was but have to say its over, the sushi chef the fish he served absolute... More

Japanese cuisine is often an expensive dine out option but my family just adored Japnese food so this is an absolute the perfect place for my family. We had a range of things include sashimi, beef rice, deep fried chicken, grilled rice unitl our bellies could not take anymore. Absolutely will return for more.

I dined here with a relaxed group of work colleagues, on the recommendation of a mutual friend of the group. The venue was somewhat downmarket to expectations, but the prices reflected this. The food we were able to order was well executed and enjoyable, quite out of the usual frame of Australian Japanese restaurants - so is worth trying. And... More

Once while travelling in Thailand, I saw a sign on a restaurant which said "No Worry For About Decoration". Sure the grammar was not right but I thought... you know what, you are absolutely right, I am not planning on eating the table and chairs. Izakaya Chuji is exactly the same. From the outside this place may not look like... More

Decided this month that I would have a little celebration for an occasion here with several friends and my partner, after probably about 1 year absent from going to this restaurant. I've been here a while back even before the sister bar Nihonshu exist. as the name indicates, Izakaya is directly equivalent to a Pub. Serving simple tasty foods with... More

At its best, izakaya cuisine can be much better than this. The grazing style of eating is increasingly popular, but it needs quality food to enhance the anticipation factor of awaiting the next course. The food here is not bad - it is just not that good either. As such, the value for money could be better.

You don't go to Izakaya Chuji for a fancy night out or for cutting-edge Japanese cuisine. But if you want a range of delicious snack-style dishes that go well with beer, this is your place. All of the yakitori options are great (I recommend giving the beef tongue a go) and the oysters are excellent. Love the 600ml cans of... More

As an overall, food is average and expensive (i.e. not worth the value). The avocado roll costs about $8 or $9 for 6 small pieces (see pic), but one thing good is that it's hot and I can see that it was just rolled. The ramen broth is alright but nothing close to yummy. I think this place is more... More
