Great spot

If you are coming to Melbourne for the tennis keep this in mind: Chocolate Buddha is the only restaurant at Fed square where you can see the big screen!! bookings essential!! The food is good, the drinks are great and the staff are fabulous. Make time to come here, you will love it.

Unfortunately I haven't been to Japan yet, and after I do, I'll visit here again to do a comparison. The food is clean fresh japanese food at fairly steep prices. The service is good but it's not great. It's a good place to go if you're heading off after that's central. But it's definitely not top on my list of... More

Saturday night theatre and.a quick supper before the show. Wading through the crowds to get to Federation Square nullifies any joy to be had from the food. Thr waiters were prompt, if somewhat cheeky. The small plates of sushi fresh and ordinary..

When visiting Melbourne we often visit Chocolate Buddha, which we did again last Saturday and as always it didn't disappoint. The staff are attentive, warm and friendly and the food is interesting and very very tasty. The long communal tables, open space and outlook onto Federation Square makes for a really relaxing dining experience. We will continue to make this... More

I have been to this establishment many times. The service is always good no matter whether I am dining alone or having a day out with my grandchildren. Food is just that little bit different and so flavorsome.

Sometimes when you are lunching on your own, you can feel unwanted. Not here! the wait staff were really warm and funny and attentive. The food was also yummy and came in a very attractive tray. Even the wine was just right. I sat outside in the perfect sunshine (it is Melbourne after all) and watched the passers by in... More

It took me a while to call into this well located restaurant in the middle of Federation Square because I assumed it would be desserts and chocolate treats.....No! It's a wonderful Japanese place with fresh tasty food and a wide selection. A late afternoon lunch/ very early evening dinner was no problem with the kitchen seeming to operate all day.... More

Greetings Tourist Jan Thank-you for discovering us here at Fed Square the heart of Melbourne Many people over the years have come to Chocolate Buddha and asked 'where's the chocolate?" Lovely, quirky restaurant in the heartbeat of Melbourne. We sat outside enjoying the people watching and shelter from the rain. The staff were friendly – when you eventually grabbed their attention. The gluten free food was outstanding. Such a treat to be able to have dumplings again. Even my non-allergy companion enjoyed them. We were given the option to upgrade... More

We took our Japanese friend to lunch for her birthday on the weekend. The children ordered bento boxes from the kids menu while I picked out, what it seems was the favourites! Unfortunately they were out so I happily settled for the salmon. I'll have the pork belly next time! What we particularly love about Chocolate Buddha is the devine... More
