Well, I first went to this place about 5 years ago, not long after it first opened. I was impressed, the food was good, a great selection of beers and good service. If only I could say that today. Over semi regular visits over the last 5 years I have watched this place spiral and spiral and spiral. Expensive beers,... More

I have been here once before and it was just as I remember awesome cheap food and also cheap drinks. We came on a Thursday night and there was quite a fun crowd, really busy and a do playing. They have pizza specials which are $4 and delicious we drank $20 jugs of cider which gave us all shocking hangovers... More

As others have commented, Cho Gao (now called simply "The Asian Beer Cafe") doesn't have great service. It took more than 15 minutes of standing in line just to get a beer! The bartenders also repeatedly ignored customers, even after making eye contact with them, and then proceeding down the bar to serve someone else. I don't know if they're... More

I've only been to Cho Gao for drinks so I will naturally refrain from commenting on their food menu. Cho Gao is very conveniently located in Melbourne Central on the same floor as Nandos, Hoyts, Grill'd, Groove Train and heaps more. It is a great place to catch up with mates after work (if you're based in the CBD) or... More

I just visited the Restaurant because they where offerng cheap pizza deals from 4pm to 10pm. And if you're after a snack in the evening, you're totally right here. We got a good pizza for it's price. It's a large café on the 3rd floor of Melbourne central. Incredible view onto Swanston Street and the libary. It's loud, so don't... More

i came with a large group and we pre ordered our meals. the food was ok, albeit very slow. but what stood out and promted this review was lack of initiative of wait staff who were possibly too scared to tell the kitchen staff that rice should come out at roughly the same time as curries and not after the... I went on a thursday night. There 1 dollar champagne isn't overly good, but the rest was great. Food was lovely. Pizza and chocolate spring rolls. Fantastic. It is very much pub food, but it was what we expected. Was a bit nosy, but it was to be expected.

I took 12 of my workmates there with me for our xmas dinner last night and it was dreadful. I've been there for beers before and as nice as the venue is, the service was crap. A total of 4 cocktails were returned as they tasted vile and we waited on average about 13-15 mins for a drink. (although it... More

We've been to Cho Gao now around 3 times over 12 months. Every time we;ve been there is a special or some promotion... you can't loose!!! We had their 2 for 1 main meals and we're so full we couldn't move for an hour!!! Thank god for the vast variety of specialty teas to aid digestion. Love the atmostphere, love... More
