Description: George Calombaris' flagship Melbourne restaurant for MAdE Establishment...
George Calombaris' flagship Melbourne restaurant for MAdE Establishment has cemented itself on the global dining scene with its unique Modern Greek cuisine. In October 2006, the four directors joined together to form MAdE Establishment, and opened their first venue, The Press Club Restaurant and Bar. This began a new era for George Calombaris and cemented his place as a culinary star for his Modern Greek Cuisine - never seen before Melbourne; where modern twists to traditional Greek cuisine has put this restaurant on the global map and has diner's wanting more. The Press Club seats 38 guests in individual booths. Next door to The Press Club at 52 Flinders Street, is Press Club - Projects, George Calombaris' creative and development kitchen. This space can be booked privately for up to 8 guests and offers a completely interactive experience as the chefs experiment with new dishes to make the menu in The Press Club.

This would have to be the worst experience I have had at a nice restaurant. We were asked about dietary issues and even though we told them we don't like celery, one of the dishes came out with celery in it! Ridiculous. What would have happened if I was gluten free or had allergies? The somellier seemed to have been... More

This is a restaurant, that has always had an excellent reputation ,a Melbourne Icon but receives mixed reviews and would only be appreciated by experienced diners, who also appreciate the marriage of various ingredients to make up or create each of the dishes served. The explanation or description of each dish by the well trained waiters adds to the tasting... More

Well after all the rave reviews on this restaurant and its high profile chef owner we had to give it a go . The service was ok the food was boring and forgettable with a major price tag .

This was our last night in Australia so I did some research in advance. Based on several reviews I chose this restaurant that was within walking distance of our hotel. Two nights before we had dinner at “the lake house” in Daylesford and were very impressed with Victoria’s high rated restaurants, so our expectation was high. At arrival, friendly and... More

We tried the five course menu, each course a surprise, apart from the salad, the four courses were amazing, great flavour combinations and great presentation.

My wife and I had lunch at The Press Club on Saturday and our experience was outstanding...unmistakably fine dining, but with a touch of theater. Each course on the menu was described by ingredients only...so we had no idea how the dish was likely to be constructed, which was kind of fun. When each course was delivered to our table... More

Went there in December as part of a pre Xmas shopping trip - then went back in January for my birthday. Wow - for both visits. The menu had changed in January but was just as good. Sensational quality food, amazing service from friendly, knowledgable and attentive staff, expertly managed by Valeria. It may be a flight to get there... More

Oh boy. We had high expectations but they were surpassed. The food was outstanding, the service superb. We loved the attentive staff who were very knowledgeable, gave great advice but were not intrusive. They were very friendly, not at all snooty. I have a number of serious digestive issues and the staff were considerate, a couple of dishes adapted slightly,... More
