Description: George Calombaris' flagship Melbourne restaurant for MAdE Establishment has cemented itself on the global dining scene with its unique Modern Greek cuisine. In October 2006, the four directors joined together to form MAdE Establishment, and opened their first venue, The Press Club Restaurant and Bar. This began a new era for George Calombaris and cemented his place as a culinary star for his Modern Greek Cuisine - never seen before Melbourne; where modern twists to traditional Greek cuisine has put this restaurant on the global map and has diner's wanting more. The Press Club seats 38 guests in individual booths. Next door to The Press Club at 52 Flinders Street, is Press Club - Projects, George Calombaris' creative and development kitchen. This space can be booked privately for up to 8 guests and offers a completely interactive experience as the chefs experiment with new dishes to make the menu in The Press Club.

I took my partner here for her 50th birthday and wasn't disappointed. We travelled from the uk having watched masterchef Australia and wanted to eat in George's restaraunt. We had the five course degustation menu with paired wines, it was fantastic. They do an eight course menu but personally I think that would have been too much food for us.

This is the 2nd time I've been to The Press Club, and the 1st time since its renovation. The decor is very modern, a lot brighter than before. Service was excellent and the waiters were very welcoming. Me and my friend ordered the 2 course lunch. The presentation and taste of the food was just excellent. At the end we... More

George has done it again.. the press club is even better than before.. each dish is a thoughtful consideration of the greek heritage and the relationship of each flavour. with precise and friendly (and expert) service alongside a fantastic wine match.. it was a fantastic experience. will be back!

One of the best degustation menus I have sampled in Melbourne. Only degustation, either 5 or 8 course is on offer. We had the 5 course and matched wines and it was magnificent. Food was amazing- great flavours, textures, colour and variety. The matched wines were lovely. The service was excellent. The décor was interesting and it felt like you... More

We were a party of 5 celebrating with the bride to be ! First disappointment is that while we knew the restaurant space was small we didn't realise how small - it is like a train carriage with adjoining leather banquettes either side of aisle and appeared just as cramped as the real thing ! Space is certainly at a... More

We booked a table at the press club to celebrate our daughters 13th birthday (she is a masterchef/George fan). We expected to treat her to a wonderful dining experience (food and service). We were disappointed! The servings were merger and overly clever, so much so that instead of treating her to a fine experience we found ourselves needing to listen... More

My best friend loves George, so for a special birthday surprise, I asked the Press Club if he would be willing to make a special dessert and sign a card. They were so accommodating, providing he was available, they agreed without hesitation. We had the 5 course degustation. The waiters giving a very detailed description of each course (as novices... We booked a table here for lunch not long after it re-opened. We were very excited to try fine dining in Aus and this place didn't disappoint. The menu was interesting and inventive, each dish was explained and any questions answered. The food itself was brilliant. My favourite was the strawberry, brioche and marshmallow pudding thing. It was a sensory... More

I've been to The Press Clubs numerous times over the last 6 years or so and this is the first time I've seen it in its new guise. Exclusive and intimate with very clever design, the space is warm and inviting and sumptuous without being forced. A relaxed vibe and the staff were excellent as well as proud to work... More

3 friends and I visited The Press Club back in January when we were in Melbourne for the Australian Open tennis. We had the 8 course degustation and were really impressed by the food, the presentation and the staff. One of our group celebrated her birthday last week so we decided to try it again. I mentioned this to a... More
