My partner always stresses trying to find a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Added to the usual list of requirements- good food, easy to get to, they also need to cater for gluten free as I am Coeliac. With Coda he need not have worried. Our grandson was born and after visiting him and his parents the family felt a dinner was in order. Coda was available. Great place for a celebration. Food plates to share of varying sizes. Very Thai in orientation, very cool delivery. Great Austrian riesling recommended by excellent som. Not cheap but thoroughly good value. Should try sister modern Indian restaurant... More

To the naysayers it's time to sample again, as Coda really delivers. Like many restaurants that have been established for years, there can be blips along the way but overall it remains a smart modern restaurant just off Flinders Lane in the City, that can deliver an array of dishes over lunch or dinner that will delight. Whether it's an... More

Dishes to tantalise the taste buds, great atmosphere and staff very obliging. We had lunch pre Christmas on a Saturday and there were 8 of us and we had a ball. The wines were great too.

We went to Coda with a hope and a prayer on a Friday night as we hadn't made a booking. Luckily, we were able to get one of their walk-in tables and were in for a dining treat. The service was impeccable and we decided to go with their small plate options to share amongst our group. A few dishes... More

Seriously some of the best food available in Melbourne. The staff and service compliments the food journey on offer, and a journey of the senses it is. If you're adventurous leave it all to them. The menu is very flexible from bite sizes to bigger meals so your choice! Well done Coda, great evening!

Has been on my wish list for a long time. Perhaps i missed its peak. Rice paper rolls were really boring - even at half the price but $ 9.80 each! They should have been stunning at that price. The food was really underwhelming - nothing was special - though maybe the buffalo mozzarella with zucchini fritters might have been... More

Fusion restaurants have been around so long that one is caught up short when one encounters a restaurant that combines fusion cuisine (in this case Modern Australian and Vietnamese) with first-rate wines, excellent service, and world-class cooking. Coda has it all and does it all. Every dish was first rate. The wine steward is an encyclopedia, and the wait staff... More

We went for lunch ended up having the 'tennis set menu' , in saying that we were able to accommodate vegetarian, pescetarian and carnivore palette. The wait staff were excellent . They even modified cocktails ! We had an excellent meal and the service was beyond excellent thank you. And I adored the ice cream sandwich at the end !!

A group of 4 of us had dinner here midweek but was still packed. There was a minor mishap when they couldn't find our booking but they certainly did their best to fix the problem and it didn't affect our evening. We ordered 1 small dish each of our own and then a bunch of dishes to share. All tasted... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
