I took five friends to Syracuse because the location was convenient to the Convention Centre. We had been bombarded with sound all day & entering the restaurant was like gaining an oasis in a sun burnt desert. The quiet of the space, the mellow, informative staff & the delicious, shareable dishes - with extensive wine list - made for a... More

We decided to have a late meal here, after 9pm, after I finished some work commitments on a Friday evening. The restaurant is located in Bank Place which is one of Melbourne’s many laneways between the “main” streets, in one of Melbourne’s numerous old inner city buildings. The ambience is an old world (historic building), very spacious (very high ceilings... More

Some people would say the food was pretentious. Certainly wouldn't give it marks for value but worth a visit if you want to experience an upmarket place and/or for that special occasion when money doesn't matter. Nice building, tucked away in a lane that is a bit hard to find. Decor is casual but 'olde world' charming. Great wine list... More

Tasteless calamari entree, cheap cut of fatty lamb main course. Paid by credit card and was asked to tip the waitress before I had the chance to decide for myself.

I had been wanting to go here for quite a while. It's a beautiful building and the restaurant itself is warm and welcoming with a very impressive wine list. The waitress for the night was exceptional but our food was a bit of a miss. We tried the 5 share plates which you get to choose. One thing I found... More

Staff very friendly, waiter suggested we share entrees, so we ordered one each, they came out one at a time so we could enjoy each one, each one just as good as the next. Main was just as delicious. Great place to catch up for drinks after work too as many were doing. Didn't have time for dessert, had a... More

Popped in to Syracuse with a colleague. Menu was great, food excellent. On previous visits I have enjoyed the wine list - huge range including half bottles. Ambience impressed the colleague, the experience made up for the red eye flight to get to Melbourne.

Syracuse is loud with a crowd but you soon stop noticing. Its in a stylish building and the décor suits that. The greeting is always prompt and you immediately feel relaxed. It’s the epitome of service, responsive but not obtrusive. The wine list is incredible and daunting but wines by glass are varied with all tastes catered for. The staff... More

As I reviewed one other time - brilliant. I love this place, the ambience, the food, the wine - pity this time that the Staff were a bit withdrawn and uninterested, this does not detract from the overall feel of this Restaurant though as the positives far outweigh.

This was quite a find this place. Happened to stumble across it after looking for a while and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was perfect with velvet curtains, antique furniture and a quiet and warm ambience. The service was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble. Time was spent explaining how the menu worked and what the options were according to... More
