It's really bad to say I never heard of this place before because we walked in to this place on Tuesday night and it was fairly busy. We thought it's just one of those places. But it was surprisingly good food in fact excellent food. I don't know where to start from ,we ordered beetroot tart from vegan menu and it... More

Fabulous old school wine bar in the lanes with alfresco seating. Fantastic wine selection. Dinner menu looked great although we only went for drinks, so not sure of the food. Great date place, for sure!

I had been here previously about 18 months ago and enjoyed it very much. This experience was the complete opposite and therefore I will be descriptive. We had several dishes from the 'starter' menu. Oysters, Jamon, Cheese, Pork terrine. These were all fantastic and I was in a brilliant mood. We ordered the Wagyu Rump to be served Medium well... More

I enjoyed my meal but this place is not good value. Very French - small portions, no side dishes, no bread. So you have to buy $10 potatoes to go with a tiny steak. Tasty but limited menu. The room is lovely.

A quiet night due to Melbourne emptying in early January but great attention from the waiter and superb food. We went for the taster menu which was substantial and delicious. Good selection of wines to compliment the variety of dishes.

My third visit to Syracuse and first for my visiting relatives. I ordered the beef cheeks for dinner. A beautiful, tasty meal, very satisfying. Dessert was also excellent. One of the best meals I have ever had. I enjoy the ambience of this older style building (an old bank?) Will definitely be back again.

One of our first dining experiences in Melbourne, and a great one! The gnocchi was amazing, and the cheese platter a delightful surprise. An outstanding wine list, with excellent by-the-glass choices. Casual, classy, and fun.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
