Enjoyable, beautiful old world, complex flavours

A lovely find in this laneway. We decided to have 2 share plates as entree and then a main each. No desert. The lamb cheek special was very different and quite rich. We enjoyed it and the serving very generous. The calamari so different I couldn't even describe it to you. Just amazing with... read more

Went there for anniversary dinner and both had thee course meal. Love the unusual combination of food and flavours. Great selection of entrees. I had steak as main and meat was cooked to perfection to my liking. Very tender. Great selection of wines. Very friendly and swift service. I like the cosy set up inside which was just perfect for... Went here for Valentine's Day 2012 but was never much of a TripAdvisor reviewer back then. Had a 7-course menu with champagne on arrival all for around $140. 2 years later and that meal still rates amongst the best for my girlfriend and I. Every course was amazing, excellent service and great ambience. Not sure what it's like now but... More

We booked a Xmas function for our staff. We waited a long time for drinks and had to negotiate with the manager to get a medium rare steak after the only options were medium and well done!! The manager were very rude and no idea about customer service, used excuses like small kitchen etc. Of course when the bill came... More

Nice setting, the servings are small, easy to do 3 courses, they seem to get a bit too creative with the food, Sambal dressing with Pork Belly??? You dont walk out full but pay a good price for it. It was ok but would look elsewhere

A nice spring evening and we had drinks outside. Had to run inside a couple of times to order drinks as the staff were busy inside. Decided to stay on for dinner and moved inside. Nice decor due to the old building. We found the shared entre dishes very small and poor value for money. The main course was a... More

Beautiful space for a restaurant but that's where it ends. The share plates were so tiny and insubstantial we went for pizza after. Which is not good after spending $100! Food try's too hard. Better to do good food with honest servings. Truly disappointed.

6 of us went to Syracuse last week for a lunch to celebrate a birthday & the return home from overseas of 2 friends after 4 months of travel. Our experience was great with excellent, good humoured service and wonderful meals; in addition, they provided a great wine list. The timing of the meals was excellent and the staff seemed... More

I took five friends to Syracuse because the location was convenient to the Convention Centre. We had been bombarded with sound all day & entering the restaurant was like gaining an oasis in a sun burnt desert. The quiet of the space, the mellow, informative staff & the delicious, shareable dishes - with extensive wine list - made for a... More

We decided to have a late meal here, after 9pm, after I finished some work commitments on a Friday evening. The restaurant is located in Bank Place which is one of Melbourne’s many laneways between the “main” streets, in one of Melbourne’s numerous old inner city buildings. The ambience is an old world (historic building), very spacious (very high ceilings... More
