Outstanding, memorable meal and service

My wife and I dined at SUD last Friday evening. Some of our favourite dining ever has been in Italy and this experience came very close. We were greeted by the very charming Irish waitress who took us to our table. She was very welcoming and friendly as we chatted briefly about Ireland. Oddly, this... read more

Xmas task to organise dinner catch up with fiends with great food and service . Sud was the perfect venue . Great food , extensive menu and so hard to choose what to have . Could seriously have eaten any of the meals that we ordered as they were all delicious and we all suffered menu envy of someone's choose... More

First went here a few days earlier for a company Christmas function for executives. so came back with my wife two nights later. so often Italian restaurants drop their food offer to accommodate price pressures, but not this one. Charming Italian host who chats to customers all night.Only open Monday to Friday and primary customers are lawyers given this is... More

Wonderful Italian meals and Vincenzo's entertainment. It is an upmarket restaurant, so watch your wallet, but we have been there a couple of times and found worth the experience. Vincenzo knows his wine well too.

Found this place online and decided to try while we had a few nights in Melbourne. Small & intimate, ideal for a couple. Made me think of a small bistro. They make Campari's Italian style, that's a good sign I thought ! The menu was fantastic, I could have had several picks. As it was, we were both very happy... More

If you are looking for a quieter intimate restaurant with amazing food and fantastic service...look no further. We have been to SUD quite a few times and always leave with a smile. Vincenzo and his team provide the most friendly entertaining service and have a unique way of making sure everyone on your table eats and drinks something special.

1 of those Italian restaurants with overly effusive service. We opted to have shared starters and they say "we'll arrange!", which is usually a dangerous thing to hear. Out comes plates and plates of starters and when I finished , I was already full, before the main. My main of steak was overcooked but ok Same thing happened to dessert... More

All we tasted was very good, from the scallops wrapped in bacon, to the pastas we took for main. All food was very very good, and the service was so professional, yet very pleasant and friendly, we just stayed about 15 minutes just to chat with them...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
