Great but don't hover

Great experience overall for dinner, with nice tasting and authentic Italian meals of all sorts. Really good sized that represented good value. As an example, my 10 year old son ordered a lasagna which I would have struggled but it was so delicious he ate it all and then it was hurting his gut... read more

Before going to the theater, we popped in for lunch & a quiet drink..... service was really great & friendly. Food was absolutely delicious, caesar salad was the best I have ever tasted & my wife's meal was also to die for.... highly recommend this place.

Ate there after theatre as we just wanted quick bite and with 25% off with entertainment book better value. Place has been here for ages and has a wide menu so something to suit all. Pretty basic pastas and standard range of mains. We just had pastas which were OK, nothing to race back for. Ok service and very reasonable... More

Enjoyed a pleasant evening dinner at Spaghetti Tree Restaurant with my Daughter on our final night in Melbourne. Menu offers a good range and the service was to a high standard. We started with an entree of bread and dips which was well prepared. We both had the Spaghetti Marinara for mains which was most flavoursome with the prawns, mussels,... More

We first found this place in 2004 when we were first dating. We came out of the theatre and decided on a late night snack. An Italian gentleman met us at the door and we were soon enjoying a small pizza which was absolutely wonderful. The next day we came for lunch as we couldn't find anything else we liked.... More

We were going to the theatre but hadn`t booked and the restaurant was full. However a table was soon found and our food arrived promptly. The size of the serve was large and quality was excellent. After the theatre the restaurant was still open so we returned for dessert and coffee.

We had a great waiter who was very attentive to our needs and happy to engage in friendly conversation when time permitted. The food was tasty and nicely presented, and the overall price was reasonable. We also loved the unique decor of this friendly eating place.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
